Basketball Betting - NBA Power Poll Week 11

(CURRENT) (TEAM) (W/L OVERALL & W/L FOR WEEK) (ATS RECORD) (LAST WEEKS RANK)

1) Boston Celtics (29-4/3-1) (21-11-1 ATS) (LW: 2) The Celtics snuck past Memphis and Houston at home before avenging their home loss to Detroit, but then had three days off before hosting Charlotte and inexplicably lost outright as 13.5-point home chalks. Shocking, but this is the NBA and that stuff happens more than you’d like to think. This week presents a stiff challenge for the men in green as they play NJ & Washington on the road before returning home to the Garden to host the Wizards and Trailblazers.

2) Detroit Pistons (26-9/2-2) (23-11-1 ATS) (LW: 1) The Pistons crashed back down to earth a bit this week losing back-to-back games for the first time since late November (Boston & Dallas). They’re on the road for three starting in San Antonio tonight, and close out the week at home vs. Toronto next Wednesday.

3) LA Lakers (23-11/4-0) (22-12 ATS) (LW: 5) The Lakers crack the top three after their brilliant week that saw them pick up four wins both SU and ATS. They flat out dominated this past week winning all four games over NO, Memphis, Philly, and Indy by an average of 23 PPG. Last night’s wire-to-wire job at New Orleans in a back-to-back effort was mighty impressive to say the least. The Lakeshow returns home to face the Bucks and Grizz before closing out the week on the road against Seattle.

4) Portland Trailblazers (22-13/4-0) (23-12 ATS) (LW: 6) This Blazers group has been simply fantastic the last 40 days of the NBA season. Since having its 13-game winning streak snapped in Utah, the Blazers have won four in a row and they’ve been getting it done with a hobbled Brandon Roy. A tough stretch lies ahead however with seven straight road games first starting in Toronto and ending on the 23rd in New Orleans.

5) Dallas Mavericks (24-11/4-0) (16-18-1 ATS) (LW: 7) The Mavs got back in the good graces of their fans with a perfect 4-0 SU mark and 3-1 ATS mark this past week. They mauled all their opponents including a Detroit team that only lost 1 of their L/10 games, and Golden state whose given them nothing but problems the last couple years. Dirk and the boys seem to have turned the corner, and there’s a high probability they’ll extend their winning streak to eight this week with road games against Seattle, the Clippers, and Sacramento.

6) Phoenix Suns (25-10/3-1) (15-19-1 ATS) (LW: 4) The Suns picked up three more wins this past week by shellacking Denver at home, playing uninspired ball vs. Seattle, and beating Indy in OT. The lone loss surprisingly came against New Orleans at home in a game the Hornets dominated from the opening tip. This week finds the Suns on the road for two against Utah and the Clippers with a sandwiched home game against Milwaukee in the middle.

7) San Antonio Spurs (23-10/2-2) (16-16-1 ATS) (LW: 3) The Spurs split its four games this week losing at Denver and Golden state in OT, and winning vs. the Clippers and Knicks. However, they went 0-4 ATS and now sit at 2-8 ATS in their L/10. This week finds them hosting Detroit, Minnesota, and Philadelphia. I’m sure they’ll find a cover somewhere in that trio…

8) New Orleans Hornets (23-12/3-1) (20-14-1 ATS) (LW: 8) The Hornets churned out a masterful trip out west where they disposed of the Clippers, Warriors, and Suns but returned home and laid a monster egg against Kobe and the Lakers in a game they got rolled up by 29-points. Hopefully it was just a hangover after a three-day layoff from their big trip. They got Miami and Seattle at home with a sandwiched roady at Houston in between this week.

9) Denver Nuggets (21-13/3-1) (17-17 ATS) (LW: 10) The Nuggets built off last weeks winning mark and squeezed out a 3-1 mark this past week with victories over SA, Minnesota, and Philly before getting pounded by Phoenix in the desert. They host Orlando Friday night before heading east to square off against Charlotte and Atlanta. Look for the Nuggs defense to turn it around a bit with a now healthy Kenyon Martin and Nene roaming the paint.

10) Golden State (20-16/1-3) (17-19 ATS) (LW: 9) The lone bright spot this week was a home OT win over the Spurs, but the Warriors went on to lose to Portland, New Orleans, and Dallas (3 teams ranked ahead of them). The Warriors have been streaky all season long, so a good week looks to be ahead with games slated to go against Memphis & Indiana both home and away.

11) Houston Rockets (19-17/4-1) (18-17-1 ATS) (LW: 17) Rafer Alston’s been flat out balling since T-Mac went on the shelf, and the Rockets are a perfect 4-0 SU and 5-0 ATS their L/5. Has the often-injured McGrady worn out his welcome in Houston? I’m not sure, but I’m interested to see how the Rockets fare over their next five with home games slated against Minny, NO, Philly, SA, and Seattle.

12) Orlando Magic (23-14/1-3) (24-13 ATS) (LW: 11) After going a perfect 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS last week, the Magic went ahead and lost 3 of 4 this week with tough losses at home to Houston & NJ along with a loss at an undermanned Sacramento. This club is so hit or miss it’s not funny, and that type of ball just won’t get it done when it matters most. A pair of road games are next on the slate vs. Denver & Utah before returning home to host the Bulls.

13) Washington Wizards (17-16/2-2) (20-13 ATS) (LW: 14) a ho-hum 2-2 SU and ATS mark for the Wizz this week with wins over Seattle and Milwaukee while surprisingly losing at home to both Detroit and an undermanned Houston club. This could be the week Washington either shows it’s for real or falls back down into the depths of mediocrity with a home/away set scheduled against Boston and road games against both the Hawks and Knicks.

14) New Jersey Nets (18-17/4-1) (15-19-1 ATS) (LW: 21) The Nets turned it up a couple notches this past week and posted victories in 4 of their 5 contests. Still, the competition wasn’t the greatest and I’ll become more of a believer once they knock off a couple of the NBA elite.

15) Utah Jazz (19-17/2-1) (16-20 ATS) (LW: 15) The Jazz managed a winning week SU for the first time in awhile, but they continue to torch their backers bankroll losing ATS for the 4th week in a row. They’ve been a much better club at home and should improve upon their record with three home games slated to go this week against Phoenix, Orlando, and Milwaukee.

16) Cleveland Cavaliers (18-18/4-1) (15-21 ATS) (LW: 18) Lebron and company rattled off 4 wins in 5 tries this past week, and it could get better to close out this week with games against Charlotte, Memphis, ands San Antonio slated to go.

17) Toronto Raptors (18-17/1-2) (18-16-1 ATS) (LW: 13) The Raptors lost home dates to Detroit and Cleveland to open up the New Year, but bounced back most recently with a dominating home win and cover over Philadelphia. Crazy schedule this week with one away (NY), one back home (PORT), one away (DET), and one back home (SAC). I’m sure Raptor personnel would like to have a word with the schedule makers next week.

18) Atlanta Hawks (16-16/1-3) (17-15 ATS) (LW: 12) The Hawks fell back to .500 this past week after losing their first three of the New Year before knocking off Cleveland the other night. This clubs been fun to watch this year, and hopefully they can rediscover their mojo at home this week against Washington, Chicago, & Denver before heading to Milwaukee to square off against the Bucks.

19) Indiana Pacers (16-21/1-4) (17-20 ATS) (LW: 16) Losers in 4 of 5 and 8 of their L/10, it looks as if the Pacers defensive woes have finally caught up to them.

20) Sacramento Kings (13-20/2-2) (19-14 ATS) (LW: 20) The Kings split their four games this week both SU and ATS. They have some big time names on the shelf right now, but the Kings have managed to compete almost every given night regardless of the fact.

21) Philadelphia 76ers (14-22/0-5) (16-18-2 ATS) (LW: 19) Five game, five losses and only one cover. Not what we expected after rattling off a 4-1 SU mark last week. Maybe they’ll pick up a win at home against Chicago, but they have no shot of doing anything against the Spurs and Rockets if they continue to play like this.

22) Charlotte Bobcats (13-21/2-3) (13-21 ATS) (LW: 22) The Bobcats started the year with three straight losses, but rebounded with impressive wins over New Jersey and at Boston. Just goes to show timing is everything in this league and the Bobcats caught the Celtics with their pants down. Still great win…now go have fun against Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, and Orlando this week.

23) Milwaukee Bucks (15-20/4-1) (16-19 ATS) (LW: 23) A 4-1 SU & ATS mark for the Bucks who were long overdue to string some wins together. However, this week looks to be a nightmare with road game slated to go at the Lakers, Suns, and Jazz before returning home to battle the Hawks.

24) Chicago Bulls (13-20/2-2) (11-22 ATS) (LW: 24) Another 2-2 mark for HC Boylan’s crew which included losses at home to the freaking Knicks and an OT thriller against Portland. Talk in Chicago says GM john Paxson’s going to blow this team up shortly. Maybe he’s waiting to see how this team fares on their 4-game road trip that starts in Philly Friday and ends in Miami on Wednesday.

25) Memphis Grizzles (10-24/2-2) (16-17-1 ATS) (LW: 27) The Grizz had a solid week picking up two wins in four tries. Those types of weeks will be few and far between for this club, so they better soak it up….

26) Seattle Supersonics (9-26/0-4) (16-19 ATS) (LW: 25) There’s still plenty of time left on the schedule for 0’fer weeks for this crew….

27) NY Knicks (9-25/1-4) (14-20 ATS) (LW: 29) At least they can say they won a game this week when the media continues to bombard them with who, what, where, why, and when questions this week….

28) LA Clippers (10-22/0-3) (14-18 ATS) (LW: 28) The Clippers franchise has been brought back to reality. Time to buy front row seats again and take a nap….

29) Minnesota Timberwolves (5-29/1-3) (14-20 ATS) (LW: 30) At least they defended home court and knocked off the Heat this week to get out of the cellar!!!

30) Miami Heat (8-28/0-5) (14-22 ATS) (LW: 26) It’s gone from bad to worse and it doesn’t look to be getting better anytime soon….
