NBA Betting Action – Red-Hot Jazz Look To Keep Spurs In Saddle
By Eric Williams
The San Antonio Spurs, (28-14 SU, 19-22-1 ATS, 16-26 O/U) may be the league’s defending champions, but they have been an inconsistent bunch this season that has had to deal with several injuries and a perplexing lack of intensity on several occasions this season, including one in their last contest, a 102-78 home loss at the hands of the surprising New Orleans Hornets that was the franchise’s worst home loss in over a decade.
The Spurs had their modest three-game winning streak stopped by the Hornets but are just a mediocre 5-5 in their last 10 games with glaring losses to the Detroit Pistons, (90-80) and Golden State Warriors, (130-121 OT) along the way.
San Antonio will be on the road tonight to face the Utah Jazz, (25-18 SU, 21-22 ATS, 25-18 O/U), their counterparts in last season’s western conference finals and a team that is starting to play like the one that shocked the western conference last season.
Utah has won four consecutive games and eight of ten coming into this game. Utah has also won five straight home games, including Sunday’s 97-89 victory over the Houston Rockets.
The Jazz have been pretty bad on the road this season in compiling an 8-15 road record but is one of the best teams in the league at home, going 18-3 in Salt Lake City. Utah is also 10-2 since acquiring sharpshooter Kyle Korver from the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Jazz have covered the spread in four straight games while the Spurs have failed to cover in their last two.
Here is a look at tonight’s Key Trends, followed by my analysis and NBA Betting Free Picks.

The Spurs are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.

The Jazz are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a favorite.
The Jazz are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games as a home favorite of 0.5-4.5.
Key Totals Trends
The Under is 5-0 in Spurs last five games playing on one days rest.
The Over is 7-1 in Spurs last eight vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
The Over is 7-1 in Jazz last eight vs. a team with a winning S.U. record.
The Over is 5-1 in Jazz last six Monday games.
Key Head-to-Head Trends
The Favorite is 6-0 ATS in the last six meetings.
The Home team is 10-1 ATS in the last eleven meetings.
The Over is 7-1 in the last eight meetings.
Analysis: The Spurs may be the defending champs, but the Jazz have been red-hot at home and should cover the spread here against a San Antonio team that just doesn’t have the same look, (at least, not yet), as last year’s squad. Take the Jazz to cover the spread at home with their terrific fifth-ranked offense, (105.5 ppg).
