BetUS NBA basketball betting odds: NEW ORLEANS -8.5, Total 205

In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA betting trends:

* Three of the last four meetings have gone UNDER the total

* The road team has covered four of the last five meetings

* DEN has won three of the last four meetings SU as the road team

* DEN has had the shooting edge in six of the last nine meetings

The Nuggets are a team that thrives on thievery, registering 9.1 steals a game. Denver slightly out-shoots the opposition (45.3%--44.7%) but commits 15.3 turnovers per contest. Also:

* DEN has won four of its last six games SU

* DEN has lost its last five road games SU

The Nuggets registered a 105-99 win at home on December 12, with Carmelo Anthony scoring a game-high 32 points. Now Anthony is struggling to play with an ankle injury. He joins other naged-up Nuggets, including Allen Iverson (wrist) and Eduardo Najera (elbow). And of course, we already know that Brazilian forward Nene is out as he is having treatment for testicular cancer (he just found out the tumor was malignant).

While Denver played at Dallas last night, New Orleans has had a day off since its 102-78 road demolition of San Antonio on Saturday, in which they outshot the Spurs 54%--42%. and outscored them by a 60-35 margin in the second half. It was a masterful performance in which David West had 32 points. The Hornets are one of the most formidable teams in the NBA, having now won and covered eight straight games and leading the NBA's Southwest Division by a game and a half over San Antonio.

Fromt he early stages of the season, New Orleans was one of the NBA's best road teams. But now they are getting the job done at the New Orleans Arena, covering eight of the last ten games there. We're not interested in guessing at when they're going to get cold.

We'll lay the points with New Orleans, the 8.5-point favorite in the BetUS NBA betting odds.
