Basketball Betting – Seattle vs. New York Knicks

BetUS NBA basketball betting odds: NEW YORK -4.5, Total 197.5

The New York Knicks (6-14 SU, 8-12 ATS) hope this is the spot where they get well, as they host the youthful Seattle SuperSonics (5-17 SU, 9-12 ATS) in a Wednesday NBA game starting at 7 PM EST at Madison Square Garden.

In the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds, the Knicks are listed at -4.5, with the total posted at 197.5 points.

In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting trends:

* NY has won and covered seven of the last nine meetings at home

* Four of the last six meetings at MSG have gone UNDER the total

* The last five meetings have gone OVER the total

Seattle got clocked 123-96 at Chicago last night, allowing nearly 54% shooting to the Bulls, who had been cold for much of the season. It was Seattle's ninth loss in 11 road games during the young campaign. The Sonics are, of course, led by 19-year-old rookie Kevin Durant, who has averaged 20.3 ppg but is only shooting 39%. Durant takes more than 50% more shots than anyone else on the Sonics' roster. That's not as self-centered as Kobe Bryant, but it is for a rookie. Also:

* SEA is 3-7 ATS as a road underdog

* SEA has won five of its last 25 games SU

* SEA has lost five consecutive road games SU

* SEA has played six unders in its last seven games

* SEA has a minus-8 point differential

The Knicks have become the disaster area everyone feared. They're on a three-game losing streak, having scored just 167 points in a pair of losses to Philadelphia and 89 against Dallas at home on Monday, dropping the game as an 8.5-point dog. New York allows opponents to shoot better (47.4%) than any other team in the NBA. And Isiah Thomas, who has caused embarrassment to the organization with a sexual harassment case that was just settled, is now starting to blame the fans for his team's lack of success. Also:

* NY is 0-4 ATS as a home favorite

* NY is 1-4 ATS in its last five games

* NY has covered five of its last 19 home games

* NY has won six of its last 19 home games SU

* NY has played eight UNDERS in its last 12 games

* NY has played six of its last eight home games UNDER the total

Eddy Curry had just six points and three rebounds in 31 minutes against Dallas, and in five of his last seven games has had single digits in both points and rebounds. New York has gravitated downward, and this comes as a by-product of poor production on the offensive end. The Knicks have exceeded 100 points just once in the last seven games; the lowlight was a 59-point output against Boston on November 29. The dynamic here is different than the last five meetings (all overs) because since then, the Sonics have let go of Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis, who exhibited good shot selection, and obtained kevin Durant, who still has poor shot selection. because Durant is the dominant figure in the Seattle offense, it can fizzle a bit, hence the recent trend toward the 'under." We'll go in that direction too, moving under the 197.5 points as posted in the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds.
