NBA Wagering Action - Denver Nuggets (+ 7.5) vs. Phoenix Suns (- 7.5)
By D.S. Williamson
Phoenix is coming off of a straight-up and against the spread loss on Saturday versus the New Orleans Hornets. The Nuggets have continued a nice run in which they are 7 and 1 against the spread in their last 8 games. That’s a nice improvement from the Nuggets team from the end of last year that couldn’t do anything on the road but will it be good enough to go into Phoenix and take it to the Suns?
Here are some other trends for us to think about:
The Phoenix Suns are 1 and 7 against the spread in their last 8 home games.
The Denver Nuggets are 9 and 3 in their last 12 games on a Monday.
The Phoenix Suns have a horrible against the spread record of 5 and 9 so far this season.
These trends point to the Nuggets actually playing well tonight in Phoenix. That isn’t something NBA bettors have been able to say very often this season. The Nuggets have finally turned things around and are now only two games behind the Suns in the Western Conference.
Not only that, but the Nuggets appear to have finally found their defensive touch as they’ve only allowed over 100 points twice in their last 5 games. That’s a good thing because any team with Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson is bound to score points. It’s keeping the other team from scoring that will determine how many games the Nuggets win this season.
Speaking of which - - what is going on with this Suns’ team? I have no doubt that they still remain one of the better teams in the NBA, but they don’t play like it. In fact some days they play as if they’re just going through the motions. Could it be that Suns’ Coach Mike D ‘Antoni is so afraid of getting his top two players hurt, Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire, that he doesn’t want to force the issue?
Hey, Mike, if you don’t start to force the issue soon, then us NBA bettors are going to leave your team in droves. Historically, the Suns have been a pretty good against the spread team, but this year they’re only 14-18-1 overall. That’s not good enough because not being good against the spread eventually equates to straight-up losses in the NBA.
With all of that being pointed out, I have only one way to go in this game, right? It’s the Nuggets to cover all the way.
The BetUS NBA betting odds is Denver Nuggets + 7.5 against the spread on the road versus the Phoenix Suns.
I like the Nuggets to play very well in this game. They should beat that spread.
