Horse Betting Action - Padding Your Bankroll

National horse racing handicapper Michael Dempsey will attempt to pad his bankroll and yours with his daily column. He will feature at least one Pick 3 or Pick 4 play from a major track along with coverage of major stakes races, longshots, and will keep you up to date on what is happening on the circuits he covers. Don't miss Wednesday's report where Michael will keep you up to date with track bias reports for the major circuits.

It’s back to work today attempting to pad our bankroll. There is a good card on tap at Aqueduct and there is a $47,383 Pick 6 carryover.

We will invest $24 in our late Pick 3 ticket, and today’s featured race starts off the three race sequence. Oaklawn Park will be added to the mix again tomorrow.

Today's Featured Race of the Day:

AQU Race 7 Hcp $16,000s (3:20 et)

#8 In Command 4/1

#7 In for a Dime 5/2

#6 Sugarless 3/1

#1 Storm a Brewing / #1a She's a Tuf Cookie 6/1

Analysis: #8 In Command stretches out to a route after making a good late rally over a speed favoring racing strip to finish in the runner up spot last out going six furlongs over a muddy track, beaten a length for the top spot. Beat $14K foes going a one turn mile back in September and has not been two turns on dirt in her career. She usually fires, landing in the exacta in 10 of 21 career outings and is 2 for 3 in her career on wet tracks.

#7 In for a Dime came up the inside with a mild late rally to finish third last out against $50K starter allowance foes. Barn going well right now and this filly has handled a wet track, a win and a second in three trips on off going. Will need to see some pace up front and should get it.

Wagering

WIN: #8 to win at 5/2 or better.

AQU Race 8 Alw $50,000s (3:49 et)

#5 Ease My Mind, #1 Golden Tablet / #1a Civil Suit

#5 Ease My Mind came up short in the stretch last out, checking in third after tracking the early pace from the rail over a main track that was favoring runners on or near the lead. One of three in here that has beaten winners, taking a $40K non winners of two race two back at Calder. Figures to move forward with a race on the inner under his belt. Strong off track pedigree and this guy broke his maiden over a sloppy track at Calder.

#1a Civil Suit invades from Calder and makes his first start for Winning Move, a private purchase. Contessa is 19% winners with newcomers to the barn. Colt went gate to wire to beat $50K non winners of two. The runner up in the race was Sparkle City, who beat

$40K claimers in his next outing at Gulfstream Park on 1/28.

AQU Race 9 Md Sp Wt (4:18 et)

#9 Fortune Faded, #2 Eassa, #6 Who Needs to Know, #8 Sir Sunstan

#9 Fortune Faded adds blinkers and Ramon here for his third career start. Has shown some late foot in two starts, a promising third in his debut and then checking in sixth last out. Has a couple of good breezes on the morning tab since his last outing and expecting him to be in the mix earlier here with the hood added.

#2 Eassa debuts for Asmussen who is 18% winners with firsters. $90K Keeneland purchase is by Successful Affair (20% winners with debut runners) out of a Alydeed mare that has dropped two other foals to race, one winner, 3 for 23 Imperial Zip ($105K).

Live Longshots:

These are price plays to watch today. A small win-place wager is in order or if your pockets are deep enough, use these runners in your trifecta and Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers. One or two of these could be the difference between a regular day at the track and hitting the IRS window with a signer.

AQU R1: #6 Eight Solid Hearts 10/1

AQU R2: #5 My Song 12/1

AQU R4: #8 Electric Mayhem 8/1

AQU R4: #6 Karakormsugardaddy 10/1

AQU R5: #4 Wooden 8/1

AQU R6: #4 Thundering Success 10/1

AQU R8: #3 Judiths Garden 12/1

AQU R9: #6 Who Needs to Know 15/1
