NFL Betting – Preview of Week 13

by Robby Maddux

With Week 12 in the books it's time to turn NFL betting focus towards Week 13 which features many games with postseason implications including the matchup between the Cleveland Browns and the Arizona Cardinals, as both clubs sit second in their respective divisions.

Cleveland has been a surprisingly solid team this year at 7-4 SU (straight up) having covered the spread in nine of their games this season to be the third most profitable team in the league.

To keep pace with the Steelers in the AFC North, while keeping a wild-card berth in sight, the Browns need a win on the road against 5-6 SU Arizona on Sunday. A loss by the Cardinals, who are also money-makers at 7-4 ATS (against the spread), would alleviate them from any playoff possibilities.

Cleveland is just 2-3 SU on the road but a bankroll building 4-1 ATS. Arizona is 3-2 SU and ATS when playing in front of the home folks. These teams haven't met since 2003 when the Browns handed it to the Cardinals 44-6 at home as the 5½-point favorites.

The Browns have won five of their last six games behind an offense that's third in the NFL in scoring with 28.6 points per game. However, they rank last in the league in defense that's surrendering a robust 28.3 points per game.

Arizona is also a solid team on offense but less-than-stellar on defense. Offensively they're posting 23.1 points per game and on defense they're giving up 23.5.

With two clubs possessing good offenses and bad defenses usually makes for an exciting and high-scoring affair and oddsmakers agree by tagging these contests with an early game total of 51½.

NFL betting odds list this contest as a pick indicating both clubs are evenly matched, which should make for a competitive event, and with playoff implications on the line it's a must see game for football bettors.

Don't forget, NFL Week 13 kicks off on Thursday evening with a dynamic game between the Green Bay Packers and hosting Dallas Cowboys, who share the best record in the NFC.

The 10-1 SU Packers, who owns a four-game NFC North lead, can improve their chances of earning home-field advantage if they can beat Dallas who's also 10-1 SU and in control of the NFC East.

The Packers, winners of six straight, have been wallet-fatteners as the NFL's biggest money-makers at 9-1-1 ATS. Dallas has also turned a profit for their investors with an 8-3 ATS mark.

The Cowboys are off to their best start through eleven games in its 48-year, five-championship history. Meanwhile, Green Bay's record matches its best 11-game mark since 1929.

This games features two of the best teams in the business and is a great way to kickoff the week in winning fashion in another must see game.
