By Charles Jay
Will New England Patriots owner bob Kraft make mention of the '72 Dolphins during the trophy presentation at the Super Bowl on Sunday, a game where Kraft's prize possession is an 11.5-point favorite over the Giants in the BetUS Super Bowl betting odds?

WILL BOB KRAFT MENTION THE '72 DOLPHINS?
Yes -135
No -105
Bob Kraft, Columbia graduate, Harvard MBA and owner of the New England Patriots, is well aware that the 1972 Miami Dolphins existed. At least I think so. He has been a Patriots' season ticket hold since '72, the year of that unbeaten season for Miami. But there was the heart-breaking 24-23 loss to the Dolphins that could have spoiled things, so he may not want to remember anything about that season.
I'm living in Miami now, and so I can hear a lot of the guys from that '72 team talk in terms of how badly they want the Pats to lose. One of them is Mercury Morris, who has advised "Let me know when they're in the neighborhood," or some nonsense. He also said on one radio show, "They win on February 3, and they're the second-best team in the history of the NFL."
Whether the Patriots or the '72 Dolphins are the greatest ever is kind of immaterial and silly. But the Dolphin players from that year have made a big deal of their undefeated legacy year in and year out, holding champagne parties when the last team goes down to defeat. I must say that Jim Mandich, a tight end on that '72 team and a popular radio personality in the Miami area, has been a little torn, because Tom Brady, who he's known for over a decade, is a Meeeeesh-i-gan man.
A lot of the other have been arrogant about it. And to think some of them are late in their sixties. Does Bob Kraft want to give them the satisfaction? Somehow I think not. I don't know that there will be a lot of time for anything except some talk about how great the organization has been, thanks to the coaching staff, the wonderful players, etc., etc., etc. All the right cliches. Kraft won't be controversial in his comments.
And hey - this prop is assuming the Patriots are going to win so that Kraft can even GET into a trophy presentation. That's not a given. If I was Kraft, I would take great pains to mention the 2007 Dolphins, who turned a couple of wins over to the Patriots, by a combined margin of 42 points. THEY would have more to do with New England's Super Bowl victory than would the 1972 Dolphins. I mean, come on, they played so far back you could actually bump into the goal post upon diving into the end zone. Yes, that's right, kids - the goal posts used to be on the goal line.
