Bet On MLB Baseball - Who Wants Brew?
By Robby Maddux
Following one week of MLB sports betting action, the Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers are atop the list of money-makers. The White Sox are off Tuesday, but the Brew Crew host the Cincinnati Reds this evening at 8:05pm EST and lurking inside is your sportsbook winning selection.
Based on $100 money-line wagers, the White Sox have collected $490 and Milwaukee has collected $485. BetUS MLB odds listed the Brewers second choice to win the NL Central at the start of the season, and so far, Milwaukee leads the division with a 5-1 mark over favored Chicago Cubs who's 4-3.
Milwaukee will be trying to win six of their first seven games for the first time since 1998 when right-hander Jeff Suppan (1-0, 2.84) climbs the hill for the Brew Crew tonight.
In his last outing, Suppan allowed two runs in 6 1-3 innings to earn the win in the Brewers’ 8-2 win over division rival Cubs last Wednesday.
Suppan has struggled against the Reds, going 3-2 with a 6.05 ERA in 11 career starts. But he'll be backed by an offense averaging 6.7 runs a game.
Prince Fielder has yet to homer for the Brew Crew, however, reigning NL rookie of the year Ryan Braun and Gabe Kapler are picking the Prince up. Braun is 5-for-9 with two home runs and four RBIs in the last two games. Kapler is 6-for-10 with two dingers and five RBIs in the same span.
Cinncinati is also in the green in the early goings by winning $225 for MLB wagering fans supporting them with a 4-3 record under new skipper Dusty Baker.
Johnny Cueto will be handed the ball for Cincinnati. In his first major league start, Cueto retired 21-of-22 batters in seven innings of work, as the Reds beat Arizona 3-2 last Thursday.
The 22-year-old right-hander allowed nothing more than Justin Upton’s solo homer, striking out 10 with 96 mph heat. Since 1900, no Reds pitcher had fanned 10 batters in his big league debut.
Milwaukee and Cincinnati have split 34 games over the past two seasons. The Reds are slightly favored at -115 in this contest with a game total of 8½ under -115.
Analysis: Despite his dominating MLB appearance, you don't know what you're going to get with Cueto in just his second start in the bigs. Milwaukee is a good hitting ball team that's won five consecutive homies. Meanwhile, Cincinnati is just 4-9 in their last 13 roadies. And, the Reds are 0-4 in their last four during Game 1 of a series. Suppan is solid and he should be able to shutdown the Reds while his team goes to work at the plate. Have a brew and enjoy the show!
