Bet On MLB Baseball Royal Bankroll
By Robby Maddux
There's a new BetUS Sportsbook money-making sheriff in the town of cheese and dough, and he's donning a Kansas City Royals uniform. The Royals are now the most profitable team on the MLB betting diamond, winning six of their first nine games and claiming an early lead in the AL Central.
Based on $100 wagers, Kansas City has reeled in a MLB-best $590. Friday, they'll look to continue building MLB wagering bankrolls in royal fashion as they host the Minnesota Twins to begin a three-game series.
Kansas City right-hander Gil Meche (0-1, 6.94 ERA) will be handed the ball in Game 1 and he'll be looking to avenge last weekend’s losses to the Twins.
The Royals lost two out of three at Minnesota in the last series matchup, which is the only swing the Twins have won. Minnesota had lost three straight prior to that three-game stint.
Last Saturday, Meche shutdown the Twins for three innings, but gave up a three-run dinger to Justin Morneau in the fourth and ended up allowing six runs in 5 2-3 innings of a 6-4 loss.
Meche had a 1-2 record against the Twins last year, but owned a solid 3.05 ERA, allowing three or fewer runs in each appearance. He's 6-4 lifetime against Minnesota with a 4.44 ERA compiled over 79 innings of work.
Kansas City is coming off a 6-1 loss to the New York Yankees on Thursday, as their second three-game winning streak of the season was snapped.
Game 1 betting trends:
- Royals are 3-8 in their last 11 during Game 1 of a series.
- Royals are 2-5 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record.
- Royals are 6-2 in their last 8 games vs. a right-handed starter.
- Royals are 5-1 in their last 6 games on grass.
- Royals are 0-6 in their last 6 Friday games.
The Twins will send right-hander Livan Hernandez to the mound in the series opener. Hernandez is off to his best start since winning his first four outings in 2002.
Hernandez needed only 74 pitches to get through seven innings in his first-ever appearance against the Royals last week, allowing four runs and getting the win.
Minnesota is coming off a win as they avoided a three-game losing streak with a 12-5 victory against the White Sox in Chicago on Wednesday, as they doubled their previous season high in runs. The Twins are tied for third with the Cleveland Indians at 4-5 in the AL Central.
- Twins are 4-1 in their last 5 during Game 1 of a series.
- Twins are 10-21 in their last 31 vs. American League Central.
