Bet On NHL - Philly Flying With Value
By Robby Maddux
The online NHL betting fans in The City of Brotherly Love are currently full of hatred for their intra-state rival Pittsburgh Penguins, who'll have brooms in tow for Thursday's sports betting Game 4 of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final at the Wachovia Center against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Pens are an eye-popping and wallet fattening 11-1 straight up in this year's postseason, having claimed a third straight series 3-0 lead.
Pittsburgh has also over taken Philly in the ATS (against the spread) column and now sit atop the list with a postseason-best ATS record of 8-3. Based on $100 wagers, the Pens have iglooed $870 via the puck-line since the end of the regular season.
But the smart way to go on Thursday is the money-line and it's not on Pittsburgh, instead, on the valuable Flyers priced at +160 in the BetUS NHL odds.
In addition to value, the NHL wagering community investing in the Flyers in Game 4 have home ice on their side. Prior to Game 3, the Wachovia Center had been a very unkind site to the Pens, who lost four times there during the regular season.
Through 12 postseason contests, the Pens have allowed only 22 goals, and Philly has failed to pick up a power-play goal in four straight games. But the Flyers haven't came this far purely on luck, they've gotten here by playing great hockey. Just ask the 42 time losers they faced during the regular season.
Yes, it's hard to bet against Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin right now, but Philly has proven already in 2008 they can beat the Pens by winning five of the eight regular-season meetings.
Only the 1942 Maple Leafs and the 1975 Islanders have erased 3-0 playoff deficits and won series. The Pens are clearly superior to the Flyers, and Philly may not become the third team to do it, but this series finds its way back to Mellon Arena for a Game 5 on Sunday at 3:00pm EST.
Supporting online NHL gambling trends in favor of the Flyers in Game 4:
- Flyers are 9-2 in their last 11 home games.
- Flyers are 5-1 in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
- Flyers are 11-1 in their last 12 games following a loss of 3 or more goals.
- Flyers are 13-5 in their last 18 games playing on 1 days rest.
Head-to-head:
- Home team is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings.
- Penguins are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Philadelphia.
Can you feel the money-making love Philly fans? The puck drops for Game 4 at 7:30pm EST.
