Bet On Baseball - Wednesday Double Play

by Robby Maddux

As the sports betting community waits for weekend football, there's plenty of action on the diamond this evening and we have two winners on tap for the MLB betting group to help pad your bankroll before kickoff.

Kansas City Royals (64-74) vs. Texas Rangers (62-76)

Vicente Padilla (4-9, 6.36 ERA) has been good all season for the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Padilla is 3-3 with a 3.66 ERA in nine starts at home this year. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 7.27 ERA in two career starts against the Kansas City Royals.

Texas has given Padilla an average of 5.92 run support, and the Rangers have scored seven runs or more in three of its last four games overall while winning eight of ten.

Kansas City will send Kyle Davies (2-3, 6.75 ERA) to the mound. The right-hander is 0-2 with a 12.27 ERA in two career starts against the Rangers.

These are two bad teams but the Rangers should prevail. MLB odds display Texas the favorites of -145 which strengthens the selection, because the Rangers are 6-0 in their last 6 games as a favorite of -110 to -150. As well, the Rangers are 4-1 in their last 5 games as the home chalk and 6-1 in their last seven vs. a team with a losing record.

MLB Free Picks: Texas 7 Kansas City 3

San Diego Padres (76-62) vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (77-63)

The San Diego Padres will count on ace Jake Peavy (16-5, 2.10 ERA) this evening, who has been stellar all year. The right-hander has also dominated the Arizona Diamondbacks.

He's 3-0 against Arizona with a dazzling 1.71 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 26 1-3 innings in four starts. On April 25, Peavy matched his career high with 16 strikeouts against them but didn't factor in the decision.

He's 10-8 with a 4.69 ERA in 21 career starts against Arizona and owns the lowest ERA in the majors and leads the NL in wins and strikeouts.

Arizona hands the ball to Livan Hernandez (9-9, 4.67 ERA), who is 0-2 with a 3.15 ERA in his last three starts.

MLB odds display San Diego the favorites of -170. The Padres are 7-0 in their last seven games as a road favorite of -151 to -200. Peavy, who is 5-0 in his last five starts as a road favorite, should have no problem getting the win.

MLB Free Picks: San Diego 4 Arizona 1
