Bet On Baseball - Seattle Mariners (81-70) vs. Los Angeles Angels (90-62)

Most of the sports betting action will be on tonight's NCAA football game between Texas A&M and Miami, but the MLB betting group shouldn't forget about this evening's play on the diamond, because we have a winning selection in the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels matchup as the two open a four-game series at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Los Angeles has won 11-of-15 games against the Mariners this season, including five of six at home. The Angels can move closer to clinching the AL West title with a victory in this series opener. Los Angeles, who is coming off a three-game sweep of Tampa Bay, reached the 90-win mark for the fourth time in the last six years and for the eighth time in franchise history.

- Angels are 6-1 in their last 7 during Game 1 of a series.

- Angels are 7-3 in their last 10 vs. American League West.

- Angels are 72-33 in their last 105 home games.

- Angels are 4-1 in their last 5 overall.

The Angels look for its fourth consecutive win by sending right-hander Jered Weaver (12-7, 3.90 ERA) to the mound as he goes for his fifth win in six starts. Weaver is 3-1 with a 4.34 ERA in six career starts versus the Mariners.

Weaver has held the opposition to two runs or fewer in six of his last eight starts, including an Aug. 29 appearance against the Mariners, when he held Seattle to two runs and seven hits in eight innings of an 8-2 win at home.

In his most recent outing, Weaver allowed just one run and four hits in six innings with one walk and eight strikeouts in a 2-1 victory over on Saturday.

- Angels are 4-0 in Weaver's last 4 starts during Game 1 of a series.

- Angels are 12-4 in Weaver's last 16 starts with 4 days of rest.

- Angels are 5-1 in Weaver's last 6 home starts.

- Angels are 4-1 in Weaver's last 5 starts overall.

The Mariners have won three straight and six of eight, but trail the Angels by 8.5 games thanks to a 2-15 money-shredding stretch from Aug. 15-Sept. 11.

- Mariners are 3-13 in their last 16 vs. a team with a winning record.

- Mariners are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. American League West.

- Mariners are 4-0 in their last 4 road games.

- Mariners are 6-2 in their last 8 overall.

Seattle hands the ball to left-hander Ryan Feierabend (1-4, 6.80 ERA) makes his first start in nearly a month.

Feierabend made his only start against the Angels on May 29, 2007 when he allowed four runs and eight hits in 6 2-3 innings of a 4-1 loss.

In his most recent outing on July 24 at Texas, Feierabend gave up two runs and six hits in five innings of a 2-1 defeat.

- Mariners are 1-4 in Feierabend's last 5 road starts.
