BetUS Sportsbook PGA Preview – AT&T Six Pack
By Dave D
Welcome back Sergio Garcia! Garcia got his seventh PGA Tour win last week after a long online betting drought. He described his road back to the top as arduous, but also somewhat easier without Tiger Woods around. Woods is still sidelined so here’s a look at the sports betting six-pack for this week’s AT&T Classic:
Stewart Cink 10-1
Stewart Cink has the home court advantage, which is one of the reasons he is a favorite. He’s only missed one cut all year and has quietly been one of the best golfers on the Tour. He hasn’t missed the cut at this tournament since 2002 and should at-worst be among the Top 25, as he has in four of the last five years.
Zach Johnson 12-1
The AT&T Classic is a tournament where the same golfers continually have success. If we’re following that trend, how can you not like Zach Johnson? He’s won this tournament twice before and nothing cures some current struggles like home cooking.
Ben Crane 22-1
Ben Crane is off a sixth-place finish last week and is a solid pick for this week. He’s played well this year – last week was his fourth top-12 finish – and has missed only one cut this year. He has some pedigree at this tournament too since he’s won it before. After last week, Crane said he’s feeling better now than he has all season, which is another positive sign if you plan to back him.
Ryuji Imada 33-1
The name Ryuji might remind you of two things: Street Fighter and the guy who lost in the playoff at the AT&T Classic last year. Ryujia Imada was neck in neck with Zach Johnson last year but eventually lost on the first playoff hole. Imada has disappeared recently but he did attend the University of Georgia, which is near this course. He’s 18th in the Fed Ex Cup Standings.
Jonathan Byrd 33-1
When you’re looking for long shots, the easiest thing to do is to look back at the tournament’s history and see who has had some success. Jonathan Byrd is a guy who has hung around with the leaders, finishing in the top nine or better both times. He plays well on this course.
Troy Matteson 50-1
Troy Matteson will work as my long shot of the week. He’s a wildly inconsistent golfer because some weeks his putter is working for him, other weeks he’s putting astray. What I like about him is the fact that he tied for third at the AT&T Classic last year, so he’s comfortable playing here. Although he’s been cut in six of the 13 tournaments this year, he has three top-11s in the remaining seven.
