BCS National Title Betting – Ohio State Buckeyes Visit LSU Tigers

by Russell Edward

The Ohio State Buckeyes come into tonight’s BCA national championship game with the memories of last year’s debacle against Florida still fresh in the minds of any player who was there. If you bet on college football, you’ll need to think of that sort of intangible when placing a bet in the BetUS sportsbook, as it is the sort of thing that could come back to haunt you if you do not. Will coach Tressel be able to keep his team focused on the task at hand if LSU id able to jump out to an early lead, or will their psyche be irrevocably damaged if they fall behind by a quick score or two early on?

Ohio State Buckeyes +3.5 at LSU Tigers –3.5

With what seems to be more days off between their final regular season game and the national title game than there are between the final day of the World Series and the start of baseball training camp, one has to wonder how Tressel has kept his team focused. Since that same thing happened last season, Tressel surely would be the best coach around to be able to take care of the issue and most likely has instituted a bunch of new wrinkles to his playbook in order to keep the players interest up and minds focused. You would not be considered crazy to think that much of the game plan for tonight is going to revolve around running back Chris Wells, whose body must have taken at least a few weeks simply to heal from the bruising he took during the regular season.

BCS National Championship Game: New Orleans, January 7, 2008 at 8 p.m. EST

With a star running back with fresh legs, the Buckeyes will have been working on blocking schemes intended to match up well against the defensive front of the Tigers for this game. The Buckeyes O-line is big and well-coached and enjoys being run blockers. They will have to double team Tigers DT Glenn Dorsey, who is the best interior defensive lineman in the country at this level and has to be accounted for at all times. LSU hopes this will free up some space for MLB Ali Highsmith to be able to pursue the run himself. The Buckeyes will use play action to try to catch LSU in overpursuit of Wells.

Don’t expect the 3.5-point NCAA football betting dog Buckeyes game plan to include any deep throws, unless there is a complete breakdown on a play by LSU’s secondary. Instead, they’ll use the running game to set up short screens and crossing routes for high-percentage passes that will extend drives. They will rely on QB Todd Boeckman to attack underneath the perimeter and manage the game without turning the ball over.
