Bet On MLB Baseball – Can Struggling Rockies Make It Over Cards?
By Eric Williams
After correctly calling Wednesday’s Colorado Rockies, (13-21, 17-17 O/U) victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, (22-13, 15-19-1 O/U) in the BetUS Locker Room, I am offering the BetUS online MLB betting community another solid selection on tonight’s matchup.
"A win like this is huge for us because it's just one of those friendly reminders that we are a good enough team to come back," reserve outfielder Ryan Spilborghs said. "It's a nice reminder for us to just see that."
After getting a terrific performance from staff ace Jeff Francis on Wednesday, in the team’s 4-3 win, just the team’s third in its last ten games, the Rockies will seek their first set of consecutive wins since April 16-19 by giving the ball to young left-hander Jorge De La Rosa, (0-1, 20.25), who got absolutely rocked in his first start of the season on Saturday, allowing nine runs on nine hits and three walks in just four innings as the Rockies were routed by the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-7.
The St. Louis Cardinals are hoping for a better performance from starting right-hander Kyle Lohse (3-1, 3.79 ERA) than the one he delivered in his last start as he was also knocked silly, allowing eight runs on nine hits in six innings as the Cards lost to the Chicago Cubs 9-3 on Saturday.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my MLB Betting Picks.
The Cardinals are 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss.
The Cardinals are 5-1 in their last 6 games as a road favorite.
The Rockies are 9-2 in their last eleven games with the total set at 11.0 or higher.
The Rockies are 4-1 in their last five home games with the total set at 11.0 or higher.
The Under is 4-1 in Lohse’s last five starts as a favorite of -110 to -150.
The Under is 5-0 in Rockies last five Thursday games.
The Cardinals are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Colorado.
The Cardinals are 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
Analysis: This matchup has the classic look of a high-scoring affair with two starting pitchers who allowed a combined 17 runs in their last starts respectively. While they have struggled all season long and certainly aren’t better than the St. Louis Cardinals, I am taking the Colorado Rockies to make it two straight over the Cards with a big offensive night against Kyle Lohse.
