NBA Betting Action - Spurs (+ 3) vs. Warriors (- 3)

This game is a distinct difference in styles game where both teams have a shot to win outright - - or get blown-out. When I see games like this, my initial reaction is to run for the hills, but then I take a hard look at the trends and figure, what the heck? Every game provides an opportunity for the astute NBA bettor!

First, some trends:

The Golden State Warriors are 9 and 2 against the spread in their last 11 versus a team from the NBA Southwest.

The San Antonio Spurs are 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 games on the road.

The Golden State Warriors are 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 games a ½ point to 4.5 point favorite.

From the looks of it, the Warriors should have this game sewn up, right? I’m not so sure. In fact I truly believe that this could be a trend breaker in the sense that the Spurs 1 and 4 against the spread in their last 5 road games may have something to do with the fact that the Spurs are usually the favorite going into a road contest.

Head to Head, it appears that the home team has done well when these two teams meet having gone 4 and 0 against the spread in the last 4 meetings. That gives the Warriors another edge, but the Spurs - - how can the Spurs lose to the Warriors on a Monday night in Oakland?

The Spurs are too good of a team to drop this game. They haven’t been playing at the level we are accustomed to as NBA bettors - - having lost to the Lakers, Suns, Nuggets, Grizzlies, these Warriors, and Raptors in their last 11 games. Some may look at that and say that the Spurs have come back to the NBA pack.

I look at that and see and opportunity. After all, the Spurs do finally have Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan back on the court together at the same time and the Warriors are coming off of two straight blow-out losses to the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Hornets.

The Spurs turn that bad against the spread road record they’ve racked up tonight against the Warriors by winning this one outright.

The BetUS NBA money-line is San Antonio Spurs + 130 on the road versus the Golden State Warriors.

I like the Spurs to win straight-up in this affair.
