NBA Basketball Betting - Toronto at Detroit

WHO: Toronto Raptors (20-17 SU, 21-16 ATS) at Detroit Pistons (28-10 SU, 24-13-1 ATS)

WHERE: The Palace, Auburn Hills, MI

WHEN: Tuesday, January 15 at 7:30 PM ET

BetUS NBA betting odds: DETROIT -8.5, Total: 183

In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting trends:

* TOR has covered 16 of the last 24 games

* DET has won nine of the last 11 games SU

* Seven of the last ten meetings have gone OVER the total

* TOR has covered nine of the last 12 meetings on the road

* DET has had the shooting edge in each of the last ten meetings

Toronto is the league's second best free throw shooting team, hitting 80.1% from the line. The Raptors are making 7.3 three-point shots per game. Toronto has a 2-to-1 ratio of assist to turnovers. Also:

* TOR has won and covered four of its last six games

* TOR has played four of its last six games OVER the total

* TOR is 11-8 ATS on the road this season

Detroit is second in the NBA, giving up only 89.7 points a game. The Pistons are shooting 46% and have held opponents to 43.8%. The team's assist-to-turnover ratio is 2:1, which is outstanding. Also:

* DET is 19-5-1 ATS in its last 25 games

* DET has covered one of the last five games

* DET has won 13 of its last 16 games SU

* DET has played four of its last five games UNDER the total

* DET has won and covered seven of its last eight games

* DET has played seven of its last eight home games UNDER the total

The Pistons have just been through an incredible embarrassment, almost posting the lowest point total in franchise history the other night, shooting 30.7% in losing an 89-65 decision to the pitiful Knicks. The Pistons were extremely sapped, tired from a series of games that included a home rematch against Boston, road games against Dallas and San Antonio, and an overtime win at Charlotte. There was no focus on their part.

That probably won't be the case here, but does that necessarily mean they're going to run and hide from the Raptors? If you look at recent outings, Toronto is in a pretty good shooting groove, hitting 49%, 55%, 47% and 48% in its last four games, and is just coming off a win over the hot Portland Trail Blazers. Toronto also has added incentive - some revenge for the meeting these two teams had ten days ago at the Rogers Centre, when they were tuned up by the Pistons by a 101-85 score. Toronto, is not a complete pushover away from home, having posted marks of 10-9 SU and 11-8 ATS.

We don't mind grabbing the points with the Toronto Raptors, the 8.5-point underdog in the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds.
