NBA Betting: Suns (- 6.5) at Warriors (+ 6.5)
by D.S. Williamson
The Phoenix Suns travel to Oakland to take on the Golden State Warriors in tonight’s late game. The Suns have been on a tear lately, having won eight games in a row, while the Warriors have been just as hot, finding a way to win 5 out of their last 6 after a terrible start.
What makes this game particularly interesting is that if you are a Suns fan and ready to lay some money down on them you are getting a particularly short number to work with. The Suns, on average, outscore their opponents by an average of about eight points.
The Golden State Warriors give up an average of 109 points per game. The Suns average about 108 points per game.
Clearly, this match-up looks to be in the Suns’ the favor. This is very true if you, like me, believe that the Warriors’ style is exactly what the Suns love to see - - a high-scoring team that won’t hesitate in taking the open shot.
The trends favor a high-scoring game as:
The OVER is 20 and 8 in the Golden State Warriors’ last 28 games versus a fellow Western Conference opponent.
The biggest issue Golden State will have in this game is that they do not match-up well with the Suns. One team in this game will have to buckle down and play defense. The Suns look to be that team as they are forcing about 14 turnovers per game.
The Warriors are forcing about 10 but their chances of stopping a Suns line-up that consists of Amare Stoudemire, Grant Hill, Shawn Marion, and Steve Nash, just isn’t very good.
The Warriors will put up somewhat of a fight until the fourth quarter in this one, but the Suns’ depth should take over at that point.
The BetUS basketball betting line is Phoenix Suns – 6.5 against the spread on the road versus the Golden State Warriors.
In a game with a lot of scoring it is always a good rule to go with the better defensive team. The Suns cause tremendous match-up issues for the Warriors. Match-up issues that I believe point to the Suns winning this game by at least 10 points.
I like the Suns to cover in this game.
