NBA Betting - San Antonio Spurs vs. Seattle Sonics

The (28-15) San Antonio Spurs invade the great northwest looking to pick themselves off the mat when they take on the slumping (9-35) Seattle Sonics. The defending champs currently sit in the 3rd spot of the Southwest Division 3.5-games in back of the New Orleans Hornets. The Sonics season has been pretty much over since the 2nd month of the season. They come into this match-up having only won 9 of their 44 games and are currently in the midst of a 14-game losing streak. However, the Spurs sport a losing mark on the road this season (8-10 SU), and they’ve only managed a 6-12 (33%) ATS mark. Seattle’s managed 5 wins in 21 home games this season, but they sport a decent 12-9 ATS mark.

The Spurs come into this contest losers of two in a row, so they probably won’t be in the best of moods. They got blown out at home by the division leading Hornets over the weekend, and most recently lost at Utah last night 97-91 as 2.5-point road underdogs. Sonic backers take note: The Spurs are a woeful 1-7 ATS on 0 days rest this season, but they won 5 of those 7 games SU.

The Sonics lost its 14th in a row its last time out at home against the Sacramento Kings. They covered the 5-point spread in the 103-101 defeat, and it was the second time in three games that they were defeated by a lone bucket. They suffered the same fate against Houston covering as 6-point home dogs in the 109-107 defeat, but lost SU and ATS to Atlanta in the first two games of their 7-game home stretch.

Oddsmakers tagged the Spurs 8.5-point road favorites in this contest with the ‘Total’ set at 194.5. San Antonio currently sits as 7-point favorites with a Total of 194 at BetUS. The Spurs are a combined 13-22 (37%) ATS on the road vs. sub .500 non-divisional Western Conference opponents, while the Sonics come in a combined 23-19 (55%) ATS at home vs. +.500 non-divisional Western Conference opponents. The Spurs are currently in the midst of a horrendous ATS streak going 3-11 their L/14 overall. They’ve also only managed 1 ATS win in their L/8 road games. However, the Spurs have flat out owned the Sonics of late. They’ve won 9 of their L/10 match-ups SU and the Sonics have only managed two covers in their L/10 meetings.

Will the Spurs continue its dominance of this Seattle franchise tonight, or will Durant and company be able to take advantage of a road weary Spurs team and snap its 14-game losing streak? Tune to your local affiliate or the DirecTV League Pass at 10:05 ET to find out….
