NBA Betting Picks – Heat to Be Ice Cold against Red-Hot Suns
By Eric Williams
Talk about two teams heading in different directions – the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns each have stated goals of reaching the 2007-08 NBA Betting Finals, but only one team, (the Suns), seems to have a realistic chance in 2007-08 after watching the respective start for each franchise this season.
Led by two-time MVP Steve Nash, the Suns,(16-5 SU, 10-11 ATS, 12-9 O/U) are leading the league in scoring, (again) averaging a whopping 110.2 points per game and had won five straight games, all on the road, before suffering a surprising defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves 106-101 on Saturday.
Nash has been playing out of this world basketball lately, registering at least 15 assists in five straight games.
The Suns are an impressive 10-3 on the road but just 6-2 at home so far.
Miami, (5-15), is ranked near the bottom of the league, (27th) in offense, averaging a pathetic 92.0 points per game while allowing 96.8 points per game defensively, good for 11th overall.
Fortunately, Miami’s offense has gotten much better recently with the return of all-star shooting guard Dwyane Wade. The Heat, (4-15 SU, 10-9 ATS, 9-9-1 O/U), have averaged 105.0 points their last four games and put up an even century in beating the Los Angeles Clippers 100-94 on Sunday. Wade has averaged 28.8 points and 9.8 assists during the four-game stretch
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my analysis and free NBA picks.
Key Heat Trends
The Heat are 5-0 ATS in their last five vs. NBA Pacific.
The Heat are 7-2 ATS in their last nine Monday games.
The Heat are 24-8-1 ATS in their last 33 vs. Western Conference.
Key Suns Trends

The Suns are 33-75-3 ATS in their last 111 games vs. a team with a winning percentage below .400.
The Suns are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games following a road trip of seven or more days.
Key Totals Trends
The Over is 5-0 in Heat last five vs. NBA Pacific.
The Over is 5-0 in Heat last five games playing on zero days rest.
The Over is 4-0 in Suns last four games playing on one days rest.
The Over is 5-0 in Suns last five home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Key Head-to-Head Trends
The Home team is 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings.
The Under is 4-1 in the last five meetings.
Analysis: The Suns are coming off a dismal loss to the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves while the Heat are feeling better after beating the Clippers over the weekend. While The Suns will undoubtedly win this game over the suddenly mediocre Heat, I like Wade to help the Heat to keep this thing from turning into a rout. Take the Heat to cover the spread while trying to slow down the high-speed Suns.
