Bet on NBA - Phoenix Suns (-6) vs. Indiana Pacers (+6)

The Phoenix Suns travel to Indiana to take on the Pacers. The Suns were touch-and-go in their last game, a Sunday night win over the New York Knicks, but found a way to pull away and to cover the 9 points spread by beating the Knicks 115 to 104.
The Pacers have been sort of a letdown this year but they did beat the Los Angeles Clippers by 6 points, on the road, this past Sunday. Most NBA bettors would prefer that the Pacers play somewhat better than .500 ball, but against the spread the Pacers and Suns are pretty much even.
Check-out these trends:
The Phoenix Suns are 8 and 9 against the spread so far this year.
The Indiana Pacers are 8 and 10 against the spread so far this year.
The Phoenix Suns are 4 and 5 against the spread on the road so far this year.
The Indiana Pacers are 3 and 6 against the spread at home so far this year.
The trends above point to a very tough 6 point game in favor of either the Suns or the Pacers. One way to look at this game is to try and figure out whether or not this will be a trap game for the Suns.
By trap game, I mean a game in which the superior Suns play down to the level of competition that they are facing. Teams like the Suns tend to do that. They expend so much energy against their main rivals - - the Mavs, Spurs, Lakers, and Jazz - - that they tend to get somewhat soft on the road.
This sort of thing was evident in the Suns game on Sunday night versus the Knicks. Their superiority eventually led the Suns to a victory and a cover, but it wasn’t easy for the men from Phoenix. It certainly wasn’t as easy as what the Celtics did to the Knicks just a few nights ago.
In any case, based on the straight-out numbers, the Suns cover this 6 point spread with ease. They score more point, cause more turnovers, and have a higher percentage at the free throw-line.
But, sometimes, NBA bettors need to look past the numbers.
