NBA Betting Trends - Surprise Teams So Far this Season

If you’re like me, then you’re probably crying in your Irish coffee right about now because of the fact that wifey kicked you and Big Moe out of the car last night for being annoying and the NFL regular season is over. Okay, maybe the getting kicked out of the car part had nothing to do with you, but, hey you’re still crying over the end of the NFL regular season, right?

No worries, Becky! I’ve got a nice list of the surprise teams the season - - the teams that appear to be the most solid against the spread for your bankroll this year in the NBA. These teams are not locks every night, no team in the NBA is, but they are locks most nights.

So, without wasting any more time - -

1. Orlando Magic = Have you been drinking the Kool-Aid they create out there in Orlando. I have! Heck, these guys are 23 and 9 against the spread this year. That in itself is awesome, but what’s even better than that is that the Orlando Magic are 16 and 3 against the spread on the road. That makes them one the absolute best teams in the NBA to wager on. Road teams never give up as many points as they would if they were playing at home. That makes the Magic the number one against the spread wagering team in the NBA. Think twice about wagering on the Magic when they are at home, however, as their against the spread record is only 7 and 6.

2. Portland Trailblazers = Forget about this team early in the season. In their last 16 games, the Blazers have gone 13 and That’s pretty awesome! I don’t think the train has totally left the station yet, either. Play these guys for at the least the next five or six games in a row. Unless they start to lose badly, then I suspect that odds-makers won’t make them fight against large spreads for a while. These dudes play in the Western Conference where Phoenix and San Antonio are dealt the – 10 to – 14 spreads against. I’ll stick with the Blazers – 4 to – 6 against bad teams!

3. Detroit Pistons = I’m going to start calling this team the Eastern Conference step-child because of the lack of respect awarded to them by both odds-makers and NBA bettors. These fellas have the second best against the spread record in the Eastern Conference after the Orlando Magic. The Pistons’ are 20 and 9 against the spread this year. Not only that, but, like the Magic, they are excellent on the road going 10-5-1 so far this season. They also beat the Celtics on the square this year and not many other teams can say that. Always look at Pistons’ games because profits follow this team wherever they play!

4. Charlotte Bobcats = Sometimes it’s just as good to find a solid bet against team as it is to find a team to bet for. The Bobcats are that solid bet against the spread team. They’ve gone 3 and 12 against the spread in their last 15 straight games. That’s 15 games. So, it’s not like they were playing the Spurs, Suns, Celtics, and Lakers every night in that span.

5. Chicago Bulls = Another brilliant bet against team. Odds-makers haven’t figured out that this team is just bad. They’re 9 and 19 against the spread so far this year. That makes them a solid play to not cover or beat spreads against everybody! The main culprit is that the Bulls are still awarded some respect from odds-makers because of their success from last year. That was the anomaly. Not the fact they suck. As long as they spreads remain low versus these guys, they are a definite solid play against.

Until next week, good luck!
