NBA Basketball Betting – Minnesota at Golden State
By Charles Jay
BetUS NBA basketball betting odds: GOLDEN STATE -12.5, Total 213.5
The Minnesota Timberwolves (5-34 SU, 16-23 ATS) have one win under their belt since Christmas, and they won't be getting any gifts as they visit the high-flying Golden State Warriors (25-17 SU, 20-22 ATS) in Monday NBA action at the Oracle Arena in Oakland tipping off at 4 PM ET.
In the BetUS NBA betting odds, the Warriors are listed at -12.5, with the total posted at 213.5 points.
In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting trends:
* GS has won the last five meetings SU
* GS has covered five of the last eight meetings
* GS is 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings as the home team
* GS has had the shooting edge in four of the last five meetings
* MIN has had the rebounding edge in six of the last seven meetings
* GS has made more three-pointers in each of the last five meetings
Minnesota has averaged less points than any NBA team (93.3). The Wolves are shooting only 43.9% from the field, and do not have a consistent scoring threat aside from power forward Al Jefferson. The T-Wolves have a dubious 1.2 ratio of assists to turnovers. Also:
* MIN has covered three of its last 12 games
* MIN has lost 13 of its last 14 games SU
* MIN has played five of its last six games OVER the total
* MIN has covered one of its last six road games
* MIN has played four of its last five road games OVER the total
Golden State is the second highest scoring team in the NBA, averaging 109 points per game. The Warriors are also allowing the most points (107.1 ppg). They have a minus-5.1 rebounding margin per game as well. Also:
* GS has won five of its last six home games SU
* GS has covered two of its last seven home games
* GS has won eight of its last ten home games SU
* GS has played its last three games OVER the total
Minnesota is not quite yet on pace to break the record for least wins in a season (nine, set by the '72-'73 Philadelphia 76ers), but they're in contention to come a close second. It has been a nightmarish year for the team that traded Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics in the off-season. The T-Wolves are banking on the young players acquired in that trade to produce in the future, but right now that's all they have to hope for.
Minnesota has surrendered 107 ppg in its last eight, which kind of plays into Golden State's hands. And even though this impost seems considerable, well, consider this: Minnesota has been beaten by 17 points or more in four of its last seven games. Golden State showed something extra recently with road wins at Chicago and Milwaukee, and the Warriors have two days off after this, so expect the full effort.
We'll lay the points with Golden State, the 12-point favorite in the BetUS NBA betting odds.
