NBA Basketball Betting – Golden State at Portland
By Charles Jay
The Golden State Warriors (20-15 SU, 17-18 ATS), coming off one of their best wins of the year, travel to the Rose Garden tonight to take on the Portland Trail Blazers (21-13 SU, 22-12 ATS), one of the upstarts trying to becoming real power in the NBA, in a game scheduled to tip off at 10 PM ET.
In the BetUS NBA betting odds, the Blazers are listed as a two-point favorite, with the total posted at 207 points.
In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting trends:
* GS has covered seven of the last nine meetings
* GS has won eight of the last ten meetings SU
* Eight of the last nine meetings have gone UNDER the total
* GS has won four of the last six meetings SU as the road team
* GS has won five of the last 20 meetings SU as the road team
* Four of the last five meetings in Portland have gone UNDER the total
Golden State scored a 130-121 overtime home win against San Antonio on Monday night. It was only their sixth win in the last 39 against the Spurs. In that game, Golden State shot 51.6% from the field. Coupled with a 53% shooting performance against New Orleans on Friday, it means the Warriors are a hot offensive team right now. Also:
* GS has won 17 of its last 25 games SU
* GS has played five of its last six games OVER the total
* GS has won and covered five of its last seven road games
Portland had a 13-game winning streak snapped nine days ago against Utah, but now has a three-game streak going, and got revenge over the Jazz by a 103-89 score in its last outing. The Blazers are fifth in the NBA, allowing just 91.8 ppg at home. And they are now shooting 46% from the floor, a higher percentage than Golden State. Also:
* PORT has covered 15 of its last 17 games
* PORT has covered ten of its last 11 home games
* PORT has played four of its last five home games UNDER the total
* PORT has won 11 straight home games SU
One always has to be on one's toes when dealing with the fast-paced and explosive Warriors offense. But Golden State gives up 105.5 points per game on the road. In the only meeting this season, Portland won a 10-point decision at home without LaMarcus Aldridge, who has been a major contributor lately, with 87 points in his last four games.
Obviously a key for Portland this season is keeping Brandon Roy healthy. He leads the team in scoring and assists, and his 4.5 rebounds per contest have been a pleasant surprise. Roy is a game-time decision with an injury to his tailbone, but we think the Blazers can make up for any absence or limiting playing time on his part with youngster Jarrett Jack (17 points vs. Chicago last Thursday) or veteran Steve Blake (3.4 assist-turnover ratio).
We realize Baron Davis will come into this one intent on demonstrating why he should be an All-Star selection ahead of Roy, but with such a manageable number, we like the hotter team with better defense in this one, and that is the Blazers, the two-point favorite in the BetUS NBA betting odds.
