I had to do some searching to figure out why this line was so low. Dwight Howard is hurt? Nope. The Bobcats got Adam Morrison back? Nope. Then, what is it? Oh, yes - - the Orlando Magic are have lost five of their last 7 straight-up. The Bobcats just beat Denver, lost to both Detroit and Cleveland in overtime, and then beat Boston.

Here are some trends:

The Orlando Magic are 9 and 1 against the spread in their last 10 games versus a team from the NBA Southeast Division.

The HOME team is 7 and 1 against the spread in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

The Orlando Magic are 4 and 1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

The FAVORITE is 4 and 1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

The Magic aren’t nearly as dominant as they were early in the season, but I don’t think they will have much trouble with Charlotte tonight. There are two ways to look at this game.

First, if you think that the Bobcats really have turned the corner and can really beat the Magic tonight then that 1 point spread isn’t awful.

But, if you think that the Bobcats are getting too much credit for that win over Boston and the subsequent overtime losses versus the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers, then giving up one point to this team is a blessing.

I tend to think that the Bobcats have had four good games in a row while the Magic have been up in down in their last seven. That means that I love giving up 1 point to the Bobcats in tonight’s game.

The Magic can still win games on the road.
