Bet on NBA Action - Utah Jazz vs. San Antonio Spurs

The Jazz get a break tonight when they get to take on a Duncan-less Spurs team on the road. That may not matter for the Jazz, as I will show you below, but it’s better than taking on the Spurs with Duncan, right?
Maybe or maybe not. The truth about the Spurs is that they can play any style they want to. They looked like the Golden State Warriors the other night versus the Mavericks. It had everything to do with the lack of Duncan’s inside presence. What do the Spurs do when they can’t give the rock to Duncan on the post? They just run like crazy and let Parker and Ginobili go nuts.
That’s what happened to the Mavs. Unfortunately for the Jazz, the same thing may happen tonight. Parker is listed as questionable on the injury report, but I doubt he will sit this one out.
Before we get into who my mullah is going on, let’s take a look at some trends:
The Utah Jazz are 9 and 21 against the spread in their last 30 road games.
The San Antonio Spurs are 21-7-1 against the spread in their last 29 home games.
The Home Team is 9 and 1 against the spread in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
The trends say that the Spurs got this one in the bag. I agree except for one caveat. If Parker does not play, then the Spurs probably won’t win this game. Utah’s point-guard, Derron Williams, is good enough to beat any team in the NBA by himself because of his ability to both score and dish out perfect passes.
That means that the Spurs will need Parker’s defense on Williams in order to open things up for Ginobili and the rest of the Spurs’ scorers. Should Parker play, then I believe that the Spurs could blow this game open in the third quarter.

I like the Spurs if Parker plays. If Parker doesn’t suit up, then Williams and the Jazz will be too tough for San Antonio without Duncan.
