NBA Wagering: Phoenix Suns a Terrible + 400 Future Wager
By D.S. Williamson
The first thing I want to say is that I am a Phoenix Suns homer. I love the Suns. I went to high-school in Phoenix. My second year in college was when Charles Barkley took the Suns to the NBA Championship.
I’m a Suns guy. This, of course, is why it pains me to say that the BetUS NBA odds on the Suns to win the NBA Championship, + 400, are too low for me to recommend a wager.
I know, I know. The Suns were screwed by the NBA Commissioner David Stern and that moron, Stu Jackson, during last years’ playoff series versus the San Antonio Spurs. If Amare Stoudemire had played that day, maybe the Suns would have won that game. Maybe they would have been the team to beat up on the Utah Jazz and then the Cleveland Cavaliers. Maybe they would have won it last year.
I have to agree. They probably would have won it last year if they had gotten out of that playoff series versus the Spurs. If they had gotten to beat up on the Jazz. If they had gotten to run the Cavaliers ragged.
But, that was last year. This is this year. First, the Mavericks are not going to lose to Golden State Warriors during the playoffs this year. Avery Johnson is too good of a coach and the Mavericks have too much talent. Second, there are no guarantees that the Suns can beat either the Mavericks or the Spurs in the Western Conference. Then, if the Suns magically do beat either or both the Mavericks and/or Spurs who will they end up facing in the Finals?
The Boston Celtics. Or, if not the Celtics, then the Detroit Pistons. That spells doom for a Suns team that made the unfortunate mistake of signing Grant Hill, who hasn’t gotten through an entire year unscathed in I don’t know how long, instead of making a play for Garnett or Kobe, or some other more defensive-minded individual who can also score.
Here’s the truth about the Phoenix Suns: Amare Stoudemire doesn’t know how to post up, Steve Nash is old, and Shawn Marion is overrated.
They grabbed Grant Hill. What is that really going to do for this team? The Suns have match-up problems with both the Mavericks and Spurs. So, the chances of them even getting out of the Western Conference and into the NBA Championship are minimal.
The Suns have missed their train. They just don’t have the guns that a team needs when it comes playoff time.
The BetUS basketball odds are + 400. Stay away from this team. Look for longer shots than a Suns team that just doesn’t have enough to win a championship.
