NBA Wagering - San Antonio (- 7) vs. Seattle (+ 7)

What’s going on with the Spurs? It’s not time to panic, but they’ve lost two games straight-up in a row and have gone 3 and 7 against the spread in their last 10 games. The Sonics are a bad team but they’re actually better against the spread than the Spurs going 4-5-1 in their last ten.

Let’s take a look at some NBA betting trends:

The San Antonio Spurs are 5 and 0 against the spread in their last 5 games against a team with a losing straight-up record.

The Seattle Supersonics are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 games as an UNDERDOG of 5 to 10.5 points.

The San Antonio Spurs are 5 and 0 against the spread in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

The HOME team is 11-3-1 against the spread in the last 15 meetings between these two teams.

This is the toughest game of the night to handicap for the simple fact that the San Antonio Spurs have been on a terrible streak. It doesn’t appear as if the Spurs could cover a spread against Long Beach State much less versus a team like the Seattle Supersonics.

Don’t get me wrong, the Sonics aren’t a good team, but they are playing at home and maybe, just maybe, they’re catching the Spurs at a bad point during the season. San Antonio will bounce back and do some terrific things in the playoffs, but their against the spread record lately has been atrocious.

The trends swing both ways in this game. Because of that I sort of have to go with the Sonics to beat this spread. Getting seven points at home versus a San Antonio Spurs team that’s reeling after a blow-out loss to New Orleans is too good of an opportunity to pass up.

I’m putting my money on the Sonics.
