The Portland Trailblazers and San Antonio Spurs hook up in tonight’s season opener with two teams that are as opposite as it gets.
The Blazers, despite losing No. 1 overall draft pick Greg Oden for the entire season following microfracture surgery, are a very young team with boatloads of talent and potential.
The defending champion San Antonio Spurs are an experienced bunch that has been together for years and operates at frightening levels of efficiency under genius head coach, Gregg Popovich.

No, they are no match for the Spurs at this point, but the young team plays hard for head coach Nate McMillan – and the defensive-minded Spurs don’t normally blow teams out.
