Basketball Betting - Indiana Pacers (- 2) vs. New York Knicks (+ 2)
by D.S. Williamson
The Indiana Pacers travel to the coast to take on the New York Knicks tonight in a game that is fairly meaningless in terms of will or will not control the Eastern Conference. For NBA bettors, however, it makes a lot of sense to look at this game as the against the spread line, only two points, amounts to picking a winner straight-up.
Who that winner will be is the big question, right? The Pacers are okay this year having gong 12 and 12. The New York Knicks are a storied team mainly because of the non-sports stories surrounding them. Both teams face injury issues tonight as Stephon Marbury for the Knicks and Jermaine O’Neal for the Pacers are both questionable.
That makes this game even more difficult to call, but, like I wrote, because the spread is so low, it makes sense to give it a shot:
The Indiana Pacers are 1 and 12 against the spread in their last 13 games versus a team from the Atlantic Division.
The Indiana Pacers are 6 and 2 against the spread in their last 8 road games.
The New York Knicks are 5 and 8 against the spread at home so far this year.
Every trend above points to a Pacers win in this game, and there’s no reason for me to go against the trends in this case. The Pacers appear to be a decent road team with wins over Orlando and Miami and a close four point loss to the Phoenix Suns this year.
That makes the Pacers doubly dangerous in this position as, I guarantee you, that pacers G.M. Larry Bird does not want his team to lose to the lowly Knicks and the even lowlier Isaiah Thomas.
The Knicks are coming off of a win versus the New Jersey Nets. So, putting together two back-to-back wins for this team would be a very big surprise. The Knicks haven’t done that all year. There’s doubt as to whether or not they have the ability to do that now.
What this game comes down to it heart - - the Pacers have it and the Knicks appear not to. I like the Pacers to cover that spread somewhat easily tonight.
The BetUS NBA betting line is Indiana Pacers – 2 against the spread at home versus the New York Knicks.
I like the Pacers to cover in this game. They should bet the Knicks by at least 6 to 8 points tonight.
