NBA Basketball Betting – Atlanta at Orlando
By Charles Jay
The Orlando Magic (16-5 SU, 17-4 ATS) is looking like one of the premier teams in the NBA right now. And they will have two days of rest when they host the youthful Atlanta Hawks (9-10 SU & ATS) in an NBA game beginning at 7 PM EST at the Amway Arena in Orlando. In the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds, the Magic is listed at -10.5, with the total posted at 194.5 points.
BetUS NBA betting odds: ORLANDO -10.5, Total: 194.5
These teams are meeting for the first time this season, but the Hawks have won and covered the last two encounters.
In the HEAD-to-HEAD NBA basketball betting trends:
* ATL has covered eight of the last 11 meetings
* ATL has covered six of its last eight at Orlando
* ORL has won 13 of its the last 15 meetings at home
* Four of the last five meetings have gone UNDER the total
Orlando lost a six-point decision to Indiana last time out, and have had a couple of days to ponder it. Keyon Dooling, the speedy veteran guard, should play in place of Keith Bogans, giving Orlando a small but quick backcourt. Currently the Magic is on a 12-2 ATS run and has the NBA's best overall spread record on the year (17-4 ATS) although it is worth noting that Orlando has covered just five of its eight games at home. The Magic is allowing just under 43%, second only to Boston. Also:
* ORL has covered seven of its last eight games
* ORL has covered four of its last five home games
* ORL is +6.3 in point differential
* ORL averages 9.4 three-pointers per game
Indiana made 11 three-pointers in beating the Magic on Friday, but the Hawks don't attack from the arc very much - their 4.1 three-point shots per contests is 29th in the NBA. The young Hawks are without Tyrone Lue, who's got an injury to his left calf. Lue was not only the point guard, he also provided some veteran leadership, and they are none too explosive away from home, tallying just 87 ppg, which is dead last in the league. Zaza Pachulia and Josh Childress are also nursing injuries for Atlanta. The Hawks have won two straight games, but those came against Memphis and Minnesota, which have nine straight-up wins between them. Also:
* ATL has played nine UNDERS in its last 10 games
* ATL has played nine UNDERS in its last ten road games
* ATL has won just three of its last 21 road games
* ATL is 6-14-1 ATS in its last 21 road games
* ATL averages 12 offensive rebounds per game
Orlando has feasted on this kind of opponent thus far. The Hawks drafted a big guy to do some dirty work inside, and Al Horford has delivered, with 10.8 rebounds a game. But Dwight Howard has been on fire from the outset, and he's grabbed 38 boards in his last two games. We'll lay the points with Orlando, the 10.5-point favorite in the BetUS NBA basketball betting odds.
