NBA Betting Trends - Warriors (-4) vs. Trailblazers (+4)
By D.S. Williamson
This is actually a tougher game to call then how it appears. The Trailblazers did a fantastic job versus the Utah Jazz, on the road, last night. The Warriors did a fantastic job versus the San Antonio Spurs, at home, last night. The Blazers are actually an okay team at home as the trend below indicates, but the Warriors are absolutely money versus the Blazers.
Here are the important trends regarding this match-up:
The Portland Trailblazers are 6 and 4 against the spread at home this year.
The Golden State Warriors are 7 and 1 against the spread in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
Considering that both teams are coming off of solid wins, it makes sense that both teams could “bounce”. A bounce means that a team plays below its usual level because it has played at such a high level in the game, or games, before.
The question now becomes which team is most likely to bounce? There is, in my mind, no question at all. The Portland Trailblazers have put together 4 wins in a row while the Golden State Warriors are coming off of a win/loss pattern.
The team that has won 4 games in a row, the Trailblazers, are most likely to bounce for the simple fact that a team like the Blazers cannot sustain such a high-level of play for more than 4 games. Of course, a team like the Phoenix Suns, the San Antonio Spurs, or the Boston Celtics can pull of stretches of great play well past 20 games, but the Trailblazers are not even close to one of those teams.
The Blazers will bounce because they are playing a team that knows them well and they will begin to wonder if it is possible for them to win 5 games in a row. The Warriors are suited to be the team to cause the Blazers to bounce because they have a legitimate group of scorers that will take the Blazers to the hole.
The BetUS Basketball line is Golden State Warriors – 4 against the spread on the road versus the Portland Trailblazers.
I like the Warriors in this one. They have enough on offense to cause the Blazers fits. More importantly, the Blazers have been playing at such a high-level that they are bound to come back down to earth.
