NBA Betting Action - Chicago (+ 8.5) vs. Detroit (-8.5)

The Bulls haven’t exactly turned the corner, but they’ve played much better lately than they did earlier in the season. They’ve gone 3 and 1 in their last 4 games. More importantly, the Bulls have gone 3 and 0 against the spread in those 3 wins.

From an NBA bettor’s point-of-view, the Bulls have sort of turned the corner. They’re kind of “hot” going into this game versus Detroit.

Detroit hasn’t been just hot, they’ve been en fuego! The Pistons have won 5 in a row and have gone 5 and 0 against the spread in each of those wins. 5 and 0! This is a team that is seriously on fire.

Let’s take a look at a few trends that might shed some light on these fiery teams:

The Chicago Bulls are 5 and 12 against the spread in their last 17 overall games.

The Detroit Pistons are 7 and 2 against the spread in their last 9 Friday games.

The Detroit Pistons are 2 and 7 against the spread in their last 9 versus a team from the Central Division.

Chicago got their first win this season versus Detroit. So, it’s not a stretch to say that the Bulls should be competitive in this game. Detroit looks awfully good, don’t they? 5 in a row is difficult in the NBA betting. It’s very difficult to go 5 and 0 against the spread in the NBA.

But, there’s something that just doesn’t feel right about this spread. The trend above, that says Detroit has a difficult time versus their fellow Central Division rivals, tells me that Chicago, should Luol Deng and Ben Gordon play, they are both questionable going into this game, can keep this game within the number.

I’m going to say that if Deng and Gordon are in, the Bulls are a good wager. If not, then Detroit covers this game as well.

The BetUS NBA line is Chicago Bulls + 8.5 against the spread on the road versus the Detroit Pistons.

Should Luol Deng and Ben Gordon play, then the Bulls can definitely beat that 8.5 spread.

However, should either Deng or Gordon not make it tonight, then expect Detroit to just go nuts and beat the Bulls into the ground.
