MLB Betting Odds: World Series Game 1 – Rockies at Red Sox
By Eric Williams
After calling the last four games of the Red Sox-Indians series, I am primed to give the BetUS.com faithful MLB bettors more winners in the World Series, staring with tonight’s opening game.
The Boston Red Sox head into tonight’s contest with plenty of momentum on their side, having won three consecutive games over the Cleveland Indians in the ALCS to save their season and reach the 2007 World Series. Boston also knocked off the injury-plagued Los Angeles Angels in the first round.
The Colorado Rockies on the other hand, went on an historical run at the end of the regular season just for the right to face the San Diego Padres in a one-game playoff. After smoking the Padres in that matchup, the Rockies have made quick work of the NL East champions, the Philadelphia Phillies, in the first round, before dominating the NL West winners, the Arizona Diamondbacks, in the NLCS.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends followed by my Free Baseball Betting Pick:

The Pitchers: Rockies starting pitcher Jeff Francis is 17-9 in 34 starts covering 215.1 innings. Francis has 165 K’s, 63 BB and an ERA of 4.22.
Red Sox starting pitcher Josh Beckett is 20-7 in 30 starts covering 200.2 innings. Beckett has 194 strikeouts, 40 walks and a 3.27 ERA.
Analysis: As much as I like the Boston Red Sox to win this matchup tonight, I don’t think it will be a cakewalk by any means against Rockies lefthander Jeff Francis. The fact of the matter is that Francis has blossomed into a full-fledged ace and will give the Red Sox lineup all they can handle tonight.
Still, I can’t go against a red-hot Josh Beckett and Boston tonight. These two starters have been the best two pitchers all postseason and I believe their performances will likely cancel each other out, turning the game over to each team’s respective bullpen.
Take Beckett and the Red Sox, along with their superior bullpen, to win this game by a very slim margin tonight.
