MLB Betting Odds - Cincinnati Reds vs. Chicago Cubs
By Mike Rose
NL Central online baseball betting action picks back up for both clubs when the (6-7) Cincinnati Reds pay the (7-5) Chicago Cubs a visit at beautiful Wrigley Field. Baseball wagering vets will notice both clubs entered last weekend’s action on a roll but were served a heaping load of humble pie by each of their respective opponents. The Reds invaded PNC Park on a two-game winning streak after taking two of three at Miller Park from the Milwaukee Brewers. It was their second series win in three tries this season. However, the Pirates were in a very foul mood after just being swept by the Chicago Cubs, and pulled out the brooms to do some sweeping of their own. Cincy lost a pair of one-run affairs in the first two games, but got shellacked, 9-1, while trying to avoid the sweep in the final game of the series. As for the Cubs, their #1 (Zambrano) got outpitched by Brett Myers in Game 1 in a 5-3 loss, and they then got dominated by Cole Hamels and the Phillies losing Game 2 by a 7-1 final. Game 3 saw the Cubs win a wild affair 6-5 in extra innings when 2B Chase Utley’s throwing error prevented his club from pulling off the sweep.

Looking to get the Reds off the schneid will be Aaron Harang. The Reds #1 hurler comes into tonight’s start 1-1 with a 2.14 ERA. He’s allowed 14 hits in 21 innings of work and 5 ER’s with an impressive K/BB ratio of 15/5. He picked up his first win of the season in dominating fashion his last time out allowing 5 hits and 1 ER in 8 innings of the Reds 4-1 victory over the Brewers. He saw the Cubs six times last season going 3-2 with a 4.76 ERA, and he’s undefeated (4-0) with a 4.65 ERA in eight career starts at Wrigley Field.
Ryan Dempster has been the toast of the north side to start the season. He should have a 2-0 record next to his name, but he was witness to an ironic twist of fate his last time out when Kerry Wood blew the save that would have earned him the win. Dempster had been the Cubs closer the last couple seasons, so he was well aware of how Kerry felt after he allowed Jason Bay to tie it in the bottom of the ninth. The Cubs ended up winning the wild affair in 15 innings, and that was all Dempster cared about. So far so good with the Dempster experiment. He’s 1-0 with a miniscule 0.69 ERA allowing just 4 hits and 1 ER in 13 innings of work.
Harang and Cincinnati opened short –115 road chalks for Dusty Bakers first visit to Wrigley since being named the Reds manager this past off-season. You can get down at that price at BetUS.com right now! Cincy has owned the Cubs with Harang toeing the bump going 8-3 overall and 5-0 the L/5 times they’ve paid a visit to the “Windy City”. However, Chicago won 5 of their L/7 meetings in 2007.
