MLB Baseball betting: Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs - 2:20PM ET

Wrigleyville received a taste of heaven last night when their beloved Cubbies beat the ever-living tar out of the division rival Milwaukee Brewers. This game was over before it even started as the Chicago Cubs rocked Milwaukee starter Jeff Suppan all over the yard in the first inning to take a 6-0 lead. When the dust cleared, Suppan didn’t survive the 4th allowing 11 hits and 11 runs (8 earned) increasing his ERA a point and a half to 5.19. Cubs starter Ryan Dempster picked up his fourth win of the season to improve to 4-0, but pitching coach Larry Rothschild has to be concerned with his control since he walked five batters for the second time this season. That’s nitpicking though as Chicago’s offense was brilliant including Catcher Geovany Soto, who smacked a pair of three-run bombs for his first multi-homer game in the “Bigs”. His personal best of six RBIs in one game made him the proud owner of the Cubs all time rookie record for RBI’s in the month of April with 20. The 19 runs scored were the most for the Cubs in a single game this season, and it was the fourth time this year they scratched out a double-digit tally. At 17-10, the Cubs sit atop the NL Central tied with St. Louis with Milwaukee only two-games out.

Looking to help his club grab the rubber game will be Brewers right-hander Yovani Gallardo who comes into this start with no decisions and a 0.64 ERA. He started the year off in the Minors to work back from his injury, and has gotten a pair of starts to date. So far he’s been brilliant allowing just one earned run and 10 hits in 14 innings of work. He boasts a K/BB ratio of 9/5 and a 1.07 WHIP. He has however suffered from a lack of run support that’s seen him receive a pair of no decisions in both starts; Milwaukee ended up losing both. In his lone appearance against the Cubs last season, he was in line for the win going six and giving up two runs, but the bullpen blew it in the 9th and the Brewers lost 6-5.

Carlos “Big Z” Zambrano will grab the ball looking to win the series in his seventh start of the season. He picked up a win his last time out in a dominating performance at Washington to help allow his teammates avoid the sweep. Zambrano went seven scoreless innings allowing five hits and four walks while striking out five. This will be his second start against the Brewers at home. He kept their bats in check on opening day limiting the Brewers to three hits and no runs in almost seven innings of work. In his career against Milwaukee, Carlos is 9-8 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. The Cubs split his four starts against their rivals last season.

Chicago currently sits a –145 home chalk in Game 3 of the series with the ‘total’ yet to be set. When it does, you can get down on it and the ‘side’ at BetUS.com!

Shockingly, the Brewers have beaten Zambrano the L/5 times they’ve stared back at him in Wrigley Field. Gallardo’s also 4-1 his L/5 starts vs. the NL Central. However the Cubs are 8-2 their L/10 vs. a right-hander at home and 12-4 their L/16 as a favorite. It’s tough to pick a side, but look for the scoring to grind to a halt in the series finale.
