MLB Betting Odds St Louis Cardinals at Houston Astros

This two team match-up was once a blood thirsty BetUS Sports Book rivalry favorite. Times have certainly changed in the sports betting world. The St. Louis Cardinals had their five-game winning streak snapped by the Houston Astros on Monday, losing 5-3 despite the fact that Houston, (3-5) closer Jose Valverde blew a 3-0 lead in the top of the ninth inning Monday before Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada ended the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning.

"Every time I stepped up to the plate it was so exciting," said Tejada, who has hit home runs in two consecutive games. "I just wanted to do something for these fans."

The Astros have yet to win consecutive games this season, but have recorded all three of their victories in dramatic fashion, scoring four times in the top of the ninth in Wednesday's 9-6 win at San Diego before scoring twice in the ninth in Friday's 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee opened the seventh inning on Monday with back-to-back blasts to break a scoreless tie.

Cardinals starter Brad Thompson (1-0, 0.00 ERA), gave up no runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings of a 3-0 win over Colorado on Thursday

Astros starter Shawn Chacon (0-0, 3.00), allowed two runs, five hits, four walks and struck out four in Houston's 3-2 loss to San Diego on Thursday, but was not a factor in the decision.
