Arena Football Betting Odds – Grand Rapids vs. New York
By Mike Rose
Grand Rapids has been the talk of the league the last two weeks after tearing apart both Kansas City and Los Angeles by an average of 33 PPG. They’ll take their 2-2 SU and 3-1 ATS mark to the Nassau Coliseum where they’ll take on the 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS New York Dragons. The Rampage will set the record for most points scored in three consecutive games in AFL history if they score 59 points on Saturday. Poetically, they’ll break the 2001 NY Dragons mark of 234 points over a three game stretch. Grand Rapids dominated its only road game of the season smashing Kansas City 92-52 as 6.5-point road underdogs. NY’s split both of its home games this season SU, but they’re a perfect 2-0 ATS.

Since QB James Macpherson took over the starting job from Adrian McPherson, the offense has been downright lethal averaging 88 PPG. They notched 84 points last week in their huge home win over the LA Avengers to win back-to-back games for the first time since the 2006 season. QB Macpherson completed 18-of-22 passes for 215 yards and 5 TDs, and DB Chris Martin had a huge night returning three kick-offs for TDs. The defense got into the act as well forcing three LA fumbles and WR/DB Ahmad Hawkins hauled in his first interception of the season.
The Dragons almost pulled out their biggest win in years last week when they fell to the Dallas Desperados by a 33-31 final count. The two-point loss saw them easily cover the 13-point spread, and the combined 64 points fell well below the closing ‘total’ of 100.5. QB Aaron Garcia made his first start since hurting himself in Week 1 throwing for 174 yards and 3 TDs on 20-of-35 passing. The defense did a tremendous job limiting the Desperados potent attack to 252 total yards and only allowed them to convert 3-of-9 3rd down opportunities. Unfortunately, Dallas’ “D” stepped up late and recorded a safety to keep their unblemished mark intact.
Oddsmakers opened Grand Rapids up as 4.5-point road favorites, but that numbers been bet up to six with the ‘total’ sitting at 111. BetUS.com will be more than happy to satisfy your AFL wagering appetite for this match-up.
Grand Rapids is 6-4 SU and 7-3 ATS in the all time series with New York. They last met in Van Andel Arena last season, and Grand Rapids earned the 66-53 SU win and cover as five-point underdogs. The Rampage are 2-15 SU their L/17 road games, but most recently are 4-2 ATS their L/6. The Dragons are 1-4 SU their L/5 at home, but they’ve had Grand Rapids’ number in this venue winning 4 of the L/5 meetings SU.
