ATP Tennis Betting – Estoril Open - Federer vs. Gremelmayr
By Nila Amerova
Estoril, Portugal – If you are looking for some tennis odds to sink your teeth into over the weekend, BetUS online sportsbook is offering betting action on the Estoril Open. In attendance are two Top 10 elite players in the form of World No.1 Roger Federer and Sony Ericsson Open champion, No.4 Nikolay Davydenko, so what fans of tennis betting should be concerned about over the weekend is where to wager their money in order to ensure premium profits.
On the men’s side, the Estoril Open enters the semifinal round on Saturday, April 19, 2008 and through to the final four is World No.1 Roger Federer. Federer, after numerous rain delays, defeated Frederico Gil to book his passage. His reward is a semifinal encounter against Denis Gremelmayr of Germany, who is enjoying his best ATP draw performance of the year.
Tennis Betting Line: Roger Federer vs. Denis Gremelmayer
Analysis: World No.1 Roger Federer is gunning for his first ATP title of the year. This is the first time since 2000 the Swiss has not won a title in the first three months of a season! Cawaaazy!
Federer entered this event with an 11-4 mark for the year; his best results came in the form of two semifinal appearances at the Australian Open and AMS Indian Wells, and one quarterfinal appearance at the AMS Miami. Now because Federer is Federer, the only glaring statistic gleaned from his playing activity is the absence of a final appearance and an ATP title. The lack of the two constitutes nothing short of a calamity of momentous proportions!
Now, with Federer’s recent mixed results in tournament play, more importantly his failure to even reach a final, I would expect there will be underdog pushers looking to make a big profit on this matchup – taking Gremelmayr in the hopes their risk will cash out.
Well, before you go haphazardly wagering your hard-earned cash, here are some reasons why you shout not wager against Federer.
First, you should know Denis Gremelmayr is contesting his first ATP level draw event of the year. Now while has contested events on the Qualifiers, Challengers and Futures circuit, with some degree of success, the magnitude and dynamic of ATP level combines for a different atmosphere— one that players with less experience or are part time and sporadic in their appearances find overwhelming at times.
Second Roger Federer owns a 1-0 edge over Denis Gremelmayr. Although the encounter is over four years old, when they met in Bangkok (hard) in 2005), Federer won easily 6-3, 6-2.
Third, Gremelmayr prefers clay surfaces, but Federer is an all-surface player. In his trophy cabinet (53 titles altogether), several clay court crowns can be found in the cluster.
Fourth and most important, Federer has recently hired a coach, a clay court specialist to be exact in Jose Higueras. Higueras is a former ATP player who won 15 of his 16 titles on clay and in nearly two decades of coaching, the 55-year-old Spaniard helped guide Michael Chang and Jim Courier to Roland Garros crowns.
Finally, Federer is Federer. No matter what, he is still the better play.
