ATP Tennis Betting - Cincinnati Masters Third Round
by Nila Amerova
Cincinnati, Ohio – After many key upsets in the second round, day four of the ATP Masters Series in Cincinnati kicks off in the third round. Currently in progress are the matches of Nicolas Almagro vs. Jarkko Nieminen and Carlos Moya vs. Juan Martin Del Potro. Six matches remain before the final eight are determined, so let us look at the tennis Lines still open for betting with BetUS.com Sportsbook.
In the top half of the draw:
Roger Federer -2000 Marcos Baghdatis +800
Tennis Prediction –As one of three remaining top eight seeds, [1] Federer’s run to the final round of the ATP Masters Series seems to be cleared of many of its original obstacles. Out of the top half of the draw are the potential threats of Andy Murray, Ivan Ljubicic, Tommy Robredo, Richard Gasquet, Ivo Karlovic, Tommy Haas and Novak Djokovic, any of which could have been a challenger at one stage or another.
Although Marcos Baghdatis is a Top 20 player, he is a long shot against Federer. Hardly surprising is the fact that Federer holds a comfortable record over Marcos Baghdatis at 4-0. Moreover, with no real threat in sight, Federer will be anxious to right his performance at last weeks Roger Cup final with a win in Cincinnati.
Tennis Free Picks – Federer in straight sets
Jurgen Melzer +300 Lleyton Hewitt -500
Tennis Prediction – No.34 Melzer’s appearance in the third round marks his first R16 since May at the ATP Masters Series in Hamburg. Tipped at +300, the odds are long for his to advance into the quarterfinal round. Exacerbating the odds is the fact that Melzer trails 0-5 in career head-to-heads against Lleyton Hewitt.
However, Melzer has nothing to lose. No one really expects him to snag a quarterfinal spot, let alone from Hewitt’s grasp. With less pressure on Melzer, he just might orchestrate the upset.
Hewitt’s strength lies in his spirit. A ‘Never Say Die’ attitude has seen Hewitt come back to win matches from the most unlikely of circumstances. Tipped at -500, the match belongs to Hewitt; Melzer cannot beat Hewitt. The only way Melzer can take the match, is if Hewitt were to give it up. Come on! Hewitt give it up? Hardly likely.
Tennis Free Picks – Hewitt in straight sets.
