ATP Pacific Life Open – More Fourth Round Tennis Betting Picks

Indian Wells, CA – The men’s fourth round is almost upon us, so without further ado, here is a look at the tennis odds for the Pacific Life Open R16 matchups.

Tennis Betting Line:

To win Outright: Hyung Taik Lee +140 Stanislas Wawrinka -180

To win first Set: Hyung Taik Lee (1st Set) +140 Over 10 -125 Stanislas Wawrinka (1st Set) -180 Under 10 -115

Match Time: 02:00 PM Eastern Time, Wednesday March 19, 2008

Tennis Prediction: No.52 Hyung-Taik Lee enters the R16 on the heels of an upset that saw him dismiss World No.5 David Ferrer of Spain in a tight and very close three-set marathon match 7-6(5), 67(5), 7-6(3). Winning by only a handful of points in the first and third set tiebreak, Lee earned his place in the fourth round opposite No.35 Stanislas Wawrinka, who also booked his fourth round place with an upset over Marcos Baghdatis 6-3, 6-7(1), 6-0.

Both players edged into the R16, after defying the odds in exhaustive third round matches that saw them pushed to three sets. In terms of handicapping this match this is an important fact as the 22-year-old Wawrinka will more likely bounce back quicker owing than the 32-year-old Lee. As a result, Wawrinka holds the edge. Further recommending the favorite at -180 to win the match outright is a 1-0 lifetime record over Lee, owing to a victory last year at the Rogers Cup in Canada.

Tennis Free Pick: Wawrinka in straight sets

Tennis Betting Line:

To win Outright: Juan Carlos Ferrero -110 David Nalbandian -130

To win first Set: Juan Carlos Ferrero (1st Set) -120 David Nalbandian (1st Set) -120

Jo Wilfried Tsonga +130 311 Rafael Nadal -170

Match Time: 03:30 PM Eastern Time, Wednesday March 19, 2008

Tennis Prediction: As the line indicates this will be a close contest. No.22 Juan Carlos Ferrero, who is slightly disadvantaged on the money line, leads 3-2 in head-to-heads over No.7 David Nalbandian, owing to a rather surprise victory over the Argentine at the 2008 Australian Open R32. In spite of his recent win over Nalbandian, I would agree with the odds – Nalbandian at -130 is slightly the better play and should win today to advance into the quarterfinal. Take the slightly favoured Nalbandian to improve to 3-3 against Ferrero.

Tennis Free Pick: Nalbandian in straight sets.
