AFL Football Betting – Los Angeles Avengers vs. Colorado Crush
by Mike Rose
The American Conference clash between the (2-3) LA Avengers and the (1-3) Colorado Crush is crucial for both clubs if they want to have an easier road to qualify for the post-season. The Avengers are 1-2 SU and ATS on the road this season. They blew the doors off of Arizona 65-33 covering as four-point road favorites in Week 2, but got smashed in their last two road affairs vs. Georgia and Grand Rapids by a combined score of 142-93. Colorado has split its two home games this season both SU and ATS against Columbus and New Orleans.
Los Angeles had no shot in last week’s game as two-point underdogs to Grand Rapids. They were down 21-0 with just five minutes expired in the 1st quarter. They managed to cut the lead to 28-21 at the start of the 2nd quarter, but the Rampage’s offense and special teams were just too much for them to overcome. When the dust settled, the Avengers were on the wrong side of an 84-59 beatdown. QB Sonny Cumbie completed 19-of-36 passes for a measly 210 yards and 5 TDs with 1 INT. The Avengers put the ball on the carpet three times, and lost the overall turnover battle 4:0. They had nothing but their poor execution to blame for their second consecutive embarrassing effort on the road.
Colorado lost a tough one at home to the New Orleans Voodoo last Sunday afternoon. They lost by a 54-51 final count as one-point favorites, and the combined 105 points crawled over the closing ‘total’ of 101. The Crush had the ball 1st and goal with 15 seconds to go in the game, but QB John Dutton’s final pass of the game was intercepted by NO WR/DB Lin-J Shell in the endzone. It was the second time this season that Dutton’s errant passing cost Colorado Crush backers late in the game.
Oddsmakers have tagged the Crush 3-point home favorites in this spot but that number has been bet up to 4.5-points with the ‘total’ sitting at 102. You can get down on all the action your AFL heart desires at BetUS.com right now!!!
Los Angeles holds a 3-2 SU advantage in the series history, but the Crush hold the advantage ATS with the same mark. LA is 3-7 ATS its L/10 on the road, but Colorado has only managed to cover one of its last six games at home (1-4-1 ATS). The points look awfully attractive in this battle of desperate clubs searching for a victory.
