AFL Football Betting - Cleveland Gladiators vs. Colorado Crush

by Mike Rose

AFL betting commences as the league enters its 12th week of action, and online sports bettors get to sink their teeth into what could be a terrific non-conference affair as the (6-4) Cleveland Gladiators invade the Pepsi Center to take on John Elway’s (4-6) Colorado Crush. Cleveland is currently entrenched in the Eastern Division’s Playoff picture just three games in back of the Dallas Desperados, and they currently hold one of the six post-season spots. With last weeks decisive win over Orlando, the Glads are now 5-4-1 ATS overall, but they’ve been unkind to their sports betting backers on the road going 2-3 SU and ATS. Colorado lost in embarrassing fashion at Utah last week, 71-36, and in the process allowed the Blaze to secure just their second victory of the season. They now stand 4-6 SU and have only managed to go 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS at home. The Crush has cost AFL bettors this season by compiling an overall ATS mark of 3-7.

This will be the second match-up between these teams this season as they last met back in Week 7. Surprisingly, the Crush managed to pick up their lone road victory of the season, 69-66, as three-point underdogs. The 69 points they scored are the most they’ve churned out this season, and the 135 combined points obliterated the closing ‘total’ of 106. Colorado just owns this Gladiators franchise as they’re 5-1 SU and 3-1-2 ATS in the six meetings they’ve had dating back to 2003.

The Gladiators secured their sixth victory of the season in impressive fashion last week where they fought back from a 13-7 first quarter deficit to grab a 27-22 lead at the break. They then went on to outscore the Predators 21-7 in the third, and matched their opponents score in the fourth to pull out the 63-42 home win and cover. QB Raymond Philyaw was masterful once again completing 23-of-31 passes for 280 yards and seven TDs, and the defense held strong in the waning moments of the fourth quarter stopping the Preds on downs twice. They come into tonight’s battle winners of two in a row for just the second time this season.

As mentioned earlier, Colorado got steamrolled on the road in Utah last week. It was only a one possession game with Utah leading 36-29 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Blaze outscored the Crush 35-7 in the final quarter to pull out the 71-36 home win and cover. Their four turnovers ultimately let Utah spread bettors kick back and relax in the final stanza. Head Coach Mike Dailey is hoping his club can hold onto the ball this week against a Gladiator defense that’s given up points in bunches this season.

Oddsmakers deemed the Crush 1-point better than the visiting Gladiators with the ‘total’ set at 116. BetUS.com offers all the Week 12 Arena Football lines your heart desires, so be sure to login and get your wagers down in what should be a heated non-conference battle.

The Glads of old have been dominated by this Colorado franchise, but this new look squad will be out to secure its first SU and ATS victory since its first battle back in 2003. They’ve lost five straight in this series, but they’re 4-2 ATS their L/6 games while Colorado’s only managed to win five of its L/16 overall games SU. Look for this to be a closely contested high scoring affair!!!
