Arizona Wildcats - NCAA Football Odds, Lines & Betting

After finally getting to .500 last season, the Wildcats have hopes of improving on last year's mark by featuring 19 returning starters. The team's addition of Sonny Dykes as the new offensive coordinator and an offensive line that returns fully intact should also help with building some Pac 10 momentum. But when your offense ranks 115th in the county, as Arizona's did last year, there are few places to go but up. Dykes is said to be scheming an offense that will throw the ball out of the multiple-spread.

Quarterback Willie Tuitama, receivers Terrell Turner and Terrell Reese will attempt to execute the new offense and put more than last year's average of 16.5 PPG on the board. Tuitama has an injury-plagued history with the team and staying healthy is imperative. Chris Jennings and Xavier Smith should lead the Wildcats' running game. Last year Jennings combined with Chris Henry, who left after last season for the NFL, for 1,032 yards. Don't expect those types of numbers from Arizona runners this year if the promised aerial attack takes shape. The defense should continue to be what keeps the Wildcats in games and gives the offense opportunities to score. Last year's overall rank of 49 gets an added boost by the return of 10 starters, including corner Antoine Cason, linebacker Spencer Larsen (who made 89 tackles last year) and starting backers Ronnie Palmer and Dane Krogstad.

Defensive end Louis Holmes is also back for more in Arizona and freshman Levar Brown is being touted as an impact rookie on the defensive line. All of these factors should result in progress in Arizona, but maybe not enough to get them to a bowl game. Considering it's been eight seasons since they've appeared in one, nobody will probably notice or complain too much.
