Bowling Green Falcons - NCAA Football Odds, Lines & Betting

The Falcons struggled badly in the second half of 2006, losing six of their last seven games to finish at 4-8. It left them in fourth place in the MAC East, but some improvements can be expected in 2007. The Falcons will continue to depend on a ground game that ranked 18th in the country, powered by Chris Bullock (160 attempts, 769 yards, 4 TD) and quarterback Anthony Turner (57.1%, 1,596 yards, 11 TD, 5 INT, 480 rush yards, 5 TD).  Turner, however, is a better runner than he is a passer, and that could force coach Gregg Brandon to give Tyler Sheenan a chance under center.

Corey Partridge (55 receptions, 658 yards, 3 TD) will get help from Freddie Barnes (405 rush yards, 203 rec. yards, 11 total TD), who was moved from running back to wide receiver in spring practice.  Defensively, the Falcons were 37th in the country and eight starters are back for Brandon.  Sack leader Diyral Biggs will play a bigger role on the defensive line with the graduation of Devon Parks, while Erique Dozier looks ready to step in for Terrel White at linebacker.  Kenny Lewis (56 tackles, four interceptions) and Jerrett Sanderson (58 tackles, three interceptions) are the leaders of a fast and physical secondary. Still, they must improve on scoring defense, as they gave up more than 28 PPG, which ranked 98th nationally. Coach Brandon will look to rectify this over the summer.

The Falcons open the season at Minnesota and Michigan State, with another tough non-conference road trip to Boston College soon to follow.  Bowling Green then visits Kent State and hosts Ohio in late October, which will decide how close to the .500 mark they can get.  The defense has experience, speed, and should be able to carry the team while the quarterback situation is straightened out.
