One of the oldest non-BCS bowls, the Gator Bowl has been hosting college football classics since 1946. For years the game was played at Gator Bowl Stadium before moving to brand new ALLTEL Stadium in 1996. The Gator Bowl features the # 3 team from the ACC versus a team from the Big 12, Big East or this year Notre Dame. 2005 inductees to the Gator Bowl Hall of Fame included Peter Kirill Sr., Douglas "Peahead" Walker and Desmond Howard.
