Head coach Doug Wojcik, now in his third season at Tulsa, is slowly building this program into a one that will be able to achieve sustained success over a lengthy period of time.

In his first year as a head coach in 2005-2006 season, Wojcik led the Golden Hurricane to a marginal 11-17 overall record that included a 6-8 mark in Conference USA contests. Wojcik’s team improved even more last season, going a surprising 20-11 overall and 9-7 in Conference USA games, to give the men’s basketball program its first winning record in three years.

This season, the Golden Hurricane have gone 17-12 overall and 8-8 in Conference USA games, but the best thing about the Golden Hurricane as they are currently composed is the fact that this year’s team featured just three seniors and is clearly going to get better in the near future as they have already become featured players, with sophomore guard Ben Uzoh leading the team in scoring averaging 15.1 points per game and reshman guard Glenn Andrews, ranking second on the team in scoring, (9.8 ppg), and sophomore guard Jerome Jordan, third, averaging 9.1 points per game.

Tulsa put up decent numbers in almost every statistical category, both on offense and defense this season, but weren’t outstanding on either side of the ball. Their 71.3 points per game ranked 132nd in the country while the 65.4 points they allowed ranked them inside the top 100 at 96th overall.

If the Golden Hurricane can improve on their so-so field goal, (45.1percent, 129th) and three-point percentages, (36.5 percent, 115th) next season, this team could improve both, their Conference USA and overall records.
