Tulane Green Wave - NCAA Basketball Betting

Now in his third season at the school, after serving as an assistant to Gary Williams at Maryland for a decade, Tulane head basketball coach Dave Dickerson is slowly trying to build the Green Wave basketball program into a perennial NCAA Tournament berth contender, but is seeing his program achieve mixed results at best.

After posting a dismal 12-17 overall record in 2005-06 that included a 6-8 mark in Conference USA play, Dickerson saw an improvement to 17-13 last season that included a solid 9-7 mark and fourth place finish in Conference USA games.

This season, Tulane has managed to post a winning record once again, but has not improved on last year’s record with a 16-14 overall record that includes an lackluster 6-10 record in Conference USA contests.

Wile the 2007-08 version of the Green Wave basketball team featured four returning starters from last year’s winning team and was generally expected to improve upon that mark this season because of experience if nothing else, Tulane has managed to take a step backwards in finishing in ninth place in conference matchups.

The Green Wave won five consecutive games during the early part of their schedule when their opponents were a bit on the soft side but looked totally atrocious as they dropped eight straight Conference USA contests before winning their regular season finale against East Carolina.

The Green Wave struggled immensely on offense this season, scoring just 66.6 points per game (222nd) while making just 32.7 percent of its collective three-pointers, (270th) and grabbing a pathetic 8.8 offensive rebounds per contest, (260th).

Sophomore guard Kevin Simms was second on the team in scoring this season, (12.2 ppg) and will lead a trio of players in 2008-09 that will likely include 6-7 junior frontcourt forward/center, Robnson Louisme and 6-7 forward Daniel Puckett.

At the time of this writing, the Green Wave were headed into their first round game in the Conference USA Tournament and were not even assured of a spot in the annual NIT Tournament.
