Texas A & M Aggies - NCAA Basketball Betting

College Station, Texas has seen an amazing turnaround in the span of just four seasons.

The Texas A&M Aggies went 7-21 overall during the 2003-04 season, and got goose-egged in Big 12 Conference play, going 0-16 (0-17 when a loss in the conference tournament is included). But in head coach Billy Gillispie's first season at the helm in 2004-05, A&M won 21 games. Then, last season, the Aggies won 22 games overall, ten in Big 12 play, and got invited to the Big Dance for the first time since 1987, where they advanced to the second round before falling by one point to a hot Syracuse team.

With four starters back from that team, hopes were very high for Texas A&M men's basketball for the first time in, well, a very long time. Supposed “experts” had the Aggies finishing second in the Big 12 this season, behind only a powerful Kansas team.

A&M is led by a great senior point guard and maybe the best post player in the conference. Acie Law is everything you could ask for in a floor leader. He led the team in scoring for the second straight season, and paced the team in assists. He's a slasher and a playmaker and a solid defender, and he puts this team on his shoulders when the occasion calls for it, as in the Aggies' win at Kansas, when he hit the game-winning 3-pointer in the last half-minute.

Combined with junior Dominique Kirk, a do-everything 2 guard, A&M can boast of a darn tough backcourt.

Junior Joseph Jones, a 6-9 forward, provides most of the inside game. He's tough, strong and aggressive - at times, to a fault. He led the team in rebounding, but foul trouble seems to follow him. Through two-thirds of this season, he'd already fouled out of five games.

The Aggies play great defense. They take care of the ball, and shoot it well. They have a very good inside/outside offensive combination. They make their free throws. And they've got a hot coach.

A Sweet 16 berth seems like a good bet, and beyond is a possibility.

Acie Law – Everything you'd want in a senior point guard.

Joseph Jones – Big, tough, strong – but prone to foul trouble.

Dominique Kirk – Junior has started every game while at A&M.
